Oh honey, those shinies. God I'm cringing, but I missed a shiny too (even though I knew what it was at the time) and hopefully this will make you feel a bit better? It was on Pokemon Black and I was near Kyurem's cavern, and I ran into a shiny Ditto. At the time, my Latios was at the front of my team, and I didn't withdraw him because I didn't remember that once Ditto transforms into your Pokemon, it also copies its catch rate. I ran out of Pokeballs and cried.

It was a shiny Orange Geodude which I even transferred to later games, I then traded it with my nephew to make it a Golem and I never got it back :D

When I was 2 years old, my first Pokemon game was Pokemon Ruby, in my fake gba sp that my parents bought me at the time. When I was around 4-5 years old, I was bought a Nintendo DS, and I found out that there’s Pokemon Platinum in the flashcart. At the time, I didn’t understand that Pokemon had generations and I thought that Pokemon Platinum and Pokemon Ruby were the same games at the time. Now I'm 11 years old.

That was a really entertaining video! I can definitely tell lots of work went into it with that animation and really smooth video editing. The work, which looks like a lot, definitely paid off imo. I actually just got back into Pokemon myself with Moon just a few weeks ago after not having played any since Ruby version back in 2003 so it's been a while. Holy crap, I stumbled across your new Touhou video as I'm a huge Touhou fan myself, and I really like your animations :o I got a story about a shiny I found in Pkmn Emerald I wanna share. At New Mauville (the power plant), I met a Blue Voltorb, I knew it was rare, but I thought it was like a scripted event, like a Legendary. So, I accidentally killed it (cuz the 1 pkmn I use is overpowered), then I reloaded the game, and never saw it ever again :') Also, in a new game, I lend my Gameboy to my younger sister, and she caught a Lv8 Makuhita, named it 123456abc... WITH A MASTERBALL Anyway, I want to say that your commentary and animation is awesome, I am now subbed :D

I am so glad you finished this, I laughed so hard at the end. I only met a shiny once, during my time with Pokemon leafgreen. I was on my quest towards capturing Articuno and I remember being super annoyed with the random encounters cause I got lost and my Pokemon were taking a lot of damage. So I was like, ok need to get out and heal or find Articuno now. And I chose to find and catch me an Arty, with my battered Pokemon. Many random encounters later, I reach a sliding ice part, and I go hmmm this looks difficult but I must go on. A long very annoying time later, I get out and I go into a glimmer of hope like " I'm finally out, I better just beat this bird quickly and get the hell out". Then a few more encounters more, a very strangely colored Slowbro appears. I'm already sick of these guys, my teams weak and I just wanted out. But I'm like Imma catch this for research purposes, but later, I'm sure it'll be back once I get Articuno. I run away and find Articuno, and he beats the crap out of my team, so much time from my healing since I didn't know I could heal before a battle and then when he was in the red, I was like yesssss *opens bag, sees a small number of pokeballs*. "......you better listen here and just get caught" and it didn't. Used most of my Pokeballs but one lucky great ball, I finally caught him. One of my few Victorious feelings in Pokemon where I was like Hell Yeah, it's over. Now I run back to the area of the Shiny (didn't know it was called shiny or what that really meant btw), and I search continuously for a couple more hours. Until I just go into the realization that I will never be seeing it again and leave. Some time later, a cousin of mine explains the concept of Shinies to me and thus creates the official beginning of my rivalry of Articuno and me.

My first PokeMon game was Ruby. The first few times I played, I didn't know I was supposed to go West of the second town after beating Brendan. So what happens is that after I beat Brendan, I stay along the routes along the first two towns and battle and catch PokeMon there. Until I get bored and restart the whole game all over again. I only got past those two towns after the kids from the next house from our new home (we moved), who were PokeMon game players (not just the RPG games, they also collected the cards, they gave me and my cousin their doubles) taught me how to get to the next town. I was 6 when I first played and only got through the second town when I was 10. I'm currently playing PokeMon Y because Mega Evolution is best evolution. 😙 I love my Luka (Lucario nickname). Just about to beat the last Gym Leader, am I glad to have picked Charlie (Charizard nickname) over a Bulbasaur. I can't wait to get my Zygarde! I already caught Yveltal (obviously) and I named them Yvy because the spelling is fancy and Yveltal looks fancy (to me). Thinking about playing Sun or Moon next.

Out of all the Pokémon games my brothers and I have played, we have only ever found one shiny pidgey in leafgreen. We had no clue what a shiny was but there was a star next to its name so my brother caught it. It took us about two years before we knew how lucky that was.

I once founded a Shiny and capture it but it wasn't my game. It was a friend's and she always let me play since she really knew how much I liked pokémon (mainly the anime (wich I didn't know it was anime at the time) but the game was fun). I think it was a Sandslash... And I really thought that one pokémon was really cute and the different colors maked me think it was cutter. So I catched it... My friend got really excited and she couldn't stop telling me thanks for catching a shiny... And I was like "a what?" I explained her I only got it because I thought it was cute... One generation before the best, wow people really love this slow paced game, I see the love and this game was certainly a fun time, but the surf speed, AAAAHHHHH!!!!! I actually felt I would scream my lungs out when you said third shiny, shiny chatot and roserade are two of my favorite shinies. Your animation style is really slick, and you have a cute voice. I feel dp are the second worst in the francise out of the main ones because of speed and with a bit of grinding which I found needed because ALL THE FRICKING TRAINERS USE NON-FULLY EVOLVED POKEMON MEANING YOU DONT GET MUCH EXPERIENCE!!!!! I remember visiting my uncle in Texas almost three years ago, I was about 8 at the time and I was just getting into Pokémon, his neighbor gave me his old DS that had leaf green and ruby, so I remember running around the grass just outside of vermillion city trying to level up my wartortle when i found a pink drowzee, I tried to catch it but ended up in failure when it fainted. At the time 8 didn’t think much of it since I didn’t know what shinies were at the time. Then about 3 months later, I was playing my new X game when 8 ran into a shiny eevee, at this point I knew what shinies were and tried to catch it, and again, it fainted. Now looking back at it, I feel really stupid. However, I have now obtained a shiny zubat in my moon game! Which was my first shiny I ever caught!

I've watched several of your videos thus far and think I might have a feel for your tastes. I think you'd like Hyperdimension Neptunia. It's kinda similar to Touhou in that it's exploded into a ridiculously huge franchise out of nowhere and it has an all-female cast of cute characters. Hyperdimension Neptunia is a series of JRPGs for PlayStation consoles, mostly the Vita. The series focus is on self-aware humor, as the whole premise is an open parody of the gaming industry. You have Sega, Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft fighting each other in the form of goddesses, all of which represent aspects of their companies. Plus they're named after French colors! XD Nintendo is Blanc. She's the Wii. Sony is Noire. She's the PS3. Microsoft is Vert. She's Xbox 360. and then Neptune, which was an unreleased Sega console between the MegaDrive and Saturn. The series uses moe aesthetics as a hook, but this isn't the typical vapid moe-moe stuff that is so so common these days. It's just a hook. The writing is what will keep you going. Also, don't be discouraged by the fanservice-y bits. There's a lot of boob jiggle, but there's actually quite a bit of fanservice aimed squarely at a female audience. For example, Vert's obsession with yaoi and how that plays into the plot. The meta-jokes are what gets me the most. Because each of the characters are based on consoles, their appearance is also reflective of that. Noire often claims she can do anything, and has airtight security that won't ever be hacked. Neptune's a dork who pushes people's buttons. Blanc is virtually flatchested, while Vert wears an E-cup and taunts Blanc about it reflecting the power difference between the Wii and 360, and also the "everything is bigger in America" joke. The goddesses also have younger sisters who represent handheld gaming. Neptune's sister is Nepgear - the GameGear. Noire's sister is Uni - the PSP and Vita. Blanc has twin sisters - Rom and Ram, who together represent the two screens of the DS/3DS. It's all quite clever and cute. Then there's the secondary characters, who are all named after software developers. The first two Neptune meets are Compa and IF, who represent Compile Heart and Idea Factory...who are the co-developers of the game series. There's also the likes of Gust, NIS, RED, 5pb, Broccoli, MarvelousAQL, Cyberconnect2, Falcom, Cave, Capcom, Konami, Bandai, and more. There's also an abridged 12 episode anime series. If you can tolerate the boob jiggles and other such fanservicey bits, I'll bet you would really enjoy the Hyperdimension Neptunia series! If you do check out Neptunia, I would love to hear from you regarding your thoughts!

The shiny part actually reminds me of my first encounter with a shiny. It was during my second time startinga new game on PKMN Silver on the GBC. The first time I did, my save file got corrupted somehow. I don't remember how far into the game I was, but eventually I encountered a shiny Weedle. I didn't know what a shiny was at the time so I was scared shitless thinking it was a sort of bug that could corrupt my save file (get it...bug...weedle..), because the screen also flashed and his colors were weird. So I immediately turned off the game and I've regretted it ever since, because Beedrill is really cool.

My first (non gyarados) shiny was in Pokemon Crystal. My repel had just worn off at the end of the ice path and I encountered my first ever delibird. I ran away from that weird purple thing and I only saw red delibirds after that. It wasn't until 3 years later once I'd learned what I had done.

Lol I relate so much. My first Pokémon game was diamond and I couldn't read at the time so I had no idea what I was doing but I got the hang of it eventually, the game I mean. And the shiny thing as well i ran into so many (by which I mean around 6) and either killed them or ran away :'(

I grew up around the time between gen 3 and gen 4, and I had no friends to play with. I also had an R4, but i just kept bugging my sister to download games for me cuz i didnt know how. I just never bothered to download it or buy it because I thought you needed friends to play it and without a second person to play, I couldn't. Flash forward to 8th grade. It was around when Black and White came out, and my cousin borrowed my DS to play it, and he just gave me his Pokemon Black, since he liked White way more. Yea, it's kind of sad that my first game was gen 5, but i could have gotten into it around gen 3-gen 4, but damn, I love this series way too much. Also went back to my R4 and found it, so i redownloaded everything lmao.

This is so funny! I was 11 when I got my Ds because I wanted one and my mum got it for me. My first game was nintendogs too! Later on I got style boutique and then my life changed forever when I got pokemon Black. So, so much fun. All I would do for the next 2 years is playing pokemon and other video games on my mum laptop.

the first and only shiny i remember finding was a ziggzagoon on pokemon saphire. I was trying to get starter pokemon and trade them over to my other pokemon game so i could have a bunch of different starters. I found that ziggy with like 5 pokeballs and was to afraid to attack it with my pokemon and was never able to catch it. rip

Hey pokemon diamond was my first pokemon game too and I got a DS lite too for my birthday and I had a R4 card. I know what struggle you went trough with not understanding english, I'm dutch too and i did the exact same thing but it went a little faster because i played pokemon diamond with my cousin, about 100 hours into the game we arrived at the elite four. I don't have much memory left from it because I was about 4 back then, but I still remember I was trying to beat canalave gym with my cousin at my grandparents. That bastiodon was a son of a bitch, but me and my team eventually beat it, I had a turtwig as starter, still my favorite pokemon ever.

The first shiny i found was a shiny kricketot in platnium,at that time i didnt realise how rare a shiny was and didnt give much thought and i already planned some of the pokemon in my team which didnt include a Kricketot and well lets say my chimchar had fried bug that day.

Omg that’s CRAZY. My first Shiny was a Rosalia in Ruby I didn’t have any Pokéballs in my bag when I I countered it. My second shiny encounter was a Golbat in victory road (same game). But I only had Bellosome on my team that I was grinding against Gravelers.

In Pokémon Perl I was in mt . coronet about to go to the foggy bit before snowpoint, just before the intrane to the fog I ran into a shiny medatite the fighting psychic type I had only like 1 pokeball and couldn’t catch it. I’ll forever be on the lookout for a shiny medatite

Wow this brings back memories i remember my first pokemon game i recently got my first ever nintendo DS and i was with my cousin (we were like 8 or so) and we went to the store with my uncle and her and then he allowed us to pic a ds game and i knew pokemon back then but only very little like the basic i barely watched the series and yea so i picked pokemon white 2 because i thought it looked cool and that it was gonna be my first pokemon game. Back then I did not know sh*t about the game rules and stuff and like i took months to realise i could buy pokeballs and go to the next zone anyways it was fun and then months later when i finally made it to the city since i was slow as hell i went to the sewers and i remember it like it was my first day... i ran into my first Shiny pokemon!!! It was a shiny ratata! And ofc back then i had no idea what a shiny was just like you-however as shiny ratata is golden like i actually thought as a kid that he was paralyzed as being paralyzed in the game makes your pokemon turn yellowish over time and back to normal in a cycle if you remember and I thought to myself "Hmmm maybe this ratata got into a battle and escaped it but ended up being paralyzed? Maybe i can catch it and see if i can heal it?" So i catched it and tried using a full heal on it but it never worked (obviously) so i kept him and added him to my team. Now i cant make my white 2 work anymore its broken forever trappin my first ever shiny i ever randomly encountered in my childhood but it was my first shiny and im so happy i caught it instead of killed it or something lmao

In Pokemon Red I got stuck on the Old Man catching tutorial in Viridian City because I couldn't read English. Had a lvl 20 Charmeleon before Brock. My 1 year older friend helped me out big time. He knew everything with games from word of mouth probably. Bought Zelda OoT from him, and he lend me 3D Mario. After that hurdle I breezed through it. It help I got the book as a guide. The rest was trial and error, like all English games. This was before the anime ever aired so I had no context at first.
