Thinking of a human punishment, could possibly wake as a dinosaur. Tyrannosaurus with the little arms, vicious the scream, wake to find I'm no human being. I would run, having slept a long time enough to live a human life I'd eat the first thing I seen... cursing God to be so woke, to know humanity, time travel no prayer but thought of prayer as could be about anything...

I feel there is one crucial question that was not asked in this interview; Yuval's ideas ring a warning bell for tyranny yet he is associated with WEF which is implementing some very clear authoritarian influence on governments- why? I believe it is a fair question that most people would like an answer to.

@@Geoplanetjane One clear thing I am aware of is Canada and Netherlands' prime ministers are both cooperating with WEF in order to cut agricultural use of nitrogen by 30% in a time when famine is at the world's doorstep. Why cut the legs out from under a country who is the second biggest exporter of food? We've seen this is Russia and China before- control of food supply often comes before a dictatorial take over.

WHY SHOULD WE TRUST OUR GOV OUR MEDICAL INDUSTRY AND CORPORATIONS-- SPECIFICALLY DRUG CORPORATIONS? THE POWER TO LIVE HEALTHY LIVES ALREADY EXISTS. IT IS IN OUR HANDS, BUT IT IS NOT BEING REALIZED FOR ONE OBVIOUS REASON: BIG PHARMA AND THE MEDICAL INDUSTRY GET RICHER AND RICHER ON PEOPLE WHO REMAIN SICK AND DEPEND ON PRESCRIBED DRUGS. THE DRUG CARTEL DOESN'T WANT HEALTHY CITIZENS. THE QUESTION IS WHO WOULD BENEFIT FROM TECHNOLOGY THAT READS OUR INTERIOR LIVES, MENTALLY & PHYSICALLY ? IT WOULD CONTINUE TO BE THE PEOPLE WHO CAN AFFORD "GOOD" HEALTH INSURANCE. GOOD HEALTH INSURANCE IS UNAFFORDABLE TO MOST OF US. [ IT'S NOT ONLY ABOUT HAVING HEALTH INSURANCE BUT ABOUT HAVING GOOD INSURANCE. WHO ELSE WOULD BENEFIT? BIG PHARMA. ANOTHER Q TO ASK IS WHAT WOULD HAPPEN TO THE POOR AND AVERAGE WORKING CLASS WHO STRUGGLE ? ---- I DON'T THINK THEY WOULD BE DEEMED SIGNIFICANT ENOUGH IN THE GRAND SCHEME OF THE FUTURE WORLD HARRARI DESCRIBES HERE. THEY [THE LESS AFFLUENT CLASSES ] MAY JUST DO THE UPPER & ELITE CLASSES A FAVOR AND VANISH. THEREFORE, TO REITERATE: WHY SHOULD WE TRUST A GOVERNMENT THAT LIES TO US AND A MEDICAL / DRUG INDUSTRY THAT SEE US FIRST & FOREMOST AS $$ VALUE FOR THEIR OWN PROFIT? SIMPLY PUT, WE ARE A MEANS TO THEIR GAINS, WHICH DEPEND ON US REMAINING ILL .

It's funny to hear Harari warning of the devices totalitarians use, especially when they describe his life and work to a T. It seems the best disguise is to warn people of others doing the thing you're doing to them. They won't suspect you'd be the one carrying it out.

Harari envisions a world were if Granny is dying in a LTC home, AI will reassure her that the family is watching virtually but are not allowed to be by her side because of an algorithm that prohibits visits for (fill in the blanks) reasons. He thinks that humans will be known better by AI than they know themselves. This particular narrative takes away the possibility of talking to another human, discussing things such a books that have been read ( if allowed in this NWO). Wars, famine and world tension are scary things but this type of control is a thousand times more so. While still possible, I vote NO!

It's happening slower in US and EU and much faster in developing countries but it is happening still. What this guy begins talking about somewhere around the 40m mark. This is EXACTLY what is coming, except it will not be in the way he describes, companies and other groups will soon be able to have ABSOLUTE CONTROL over your finances and basically everything and it will be driven by a new system of algorithms that make the decision for you in the end, you will connect with someone and say "i want to sell everything in my portfolio or I want to withdraw this much money or I want to buy this item", you WILL BE ASKING if you can do this and then they will decide if you can or not. It will NOT be an advisory algorithm, it will have complete control over everything you do. Just like ANY new technology, once it is developed it is ALWAYS considered for weaponry, ALWAYS. Likewise this new technology will ABSOLUTELY be used against you, it will NOT be used for YOUR BENEFIT, it will be used to place more power in the people's hands who own it, PERIOD. ALL of human history proves this will be the outcome, ANY TIME a new technology comes about it is ALWAYS used to empower the few and enslave the many, this technology will be NO DIFFERENT and if you believe it will be, then you are COMPLETELY naïve.

"People think that the future doesn't need me." This quote from the discussion struck home with me as an explanation for the disillusionment that many people are feeling in the modern world. Here is a quote from Marshall Vian Summers with a radical reinterpretation of what the future of our world needs from people. "The world is poor but you are not poor. Regardless of your circumstances, this is true because you are reclaiming the wealth of Knowledge. Understand then the meaning of impoverishment...the meaning of wealth. Do not think that those who possess more objects than you are in any way wealthier...for without Knowledge they are impoverished and will acquire things only to offset their misery and uncertainty. Thus their impoverishment is compounded by their acquisition. The world is poor but you are not, for you have brought Knowledge with you into the world where Knowledge has been forgotten and denied. Thus, in the reclamation of your own wealth, the world will reclaim its wealth as well, for you shall stimulate Knowledge in all, and their wealth will begin to reveal itself in your presence and in the presence of Knowledge which guides you. Therefore, do not ask anything of the world save what few material things you need to fulfill your function. This is a small request in light of what you have come to give. And if your demands are not in excess of what you need, the world will gladly render them to you in exchange for a greater gift which you possess." (Steps to Knowledge, MVS)

Disruptive technology changes everything. When people were developing guns, some people stuck to their trusted bows and arrows and got left behind. The people with guns eventually dominated and killed those who failed to adapt to the new system. Meanwhile, if Hitler had first developed the atomic bomb, we’d live in a different world. Technology runs the show and there is no way off. Anyone who unplugs faces inevitable conquering and certain defeat. We can only hope technology is in the right hands and goes in the right direction for humanity. If the singularity is built chasing N+1 dollars - humanity is doomed to certain algorithmic slavery.

@carlwatts1230

Yes i thoroughly agree. Only a subset of stories is allowed to reach the bulk of the population. The consensus, if there is any, is not natural at all. Some untruths are promoted, many truths are surpressed, many honest inquirers lambasted or ostracized or ridiculed or otherwise shut down without responsing to their questions and arguments, or more often ignored, banned or shadowbanned. The censorship is really quite terrifying. Some very problematic narratives may gain wide adoption, and some great ones may never catch on. That is as long as we keep using these easily-corruptible platforms as the infrastructure for public discussion.

This is the best time ever to be alive? Are you sure? Sure, it's easier to beat the odds of getting born and procuring good health care. That's a remarkable achievement. But can one really say that the experience of being alive today, in the 21st century particularly, is anything to write home about? Hypnotised not to say mangled to our smartphones, unwilling to exchange eye-contact with others in our so-called public places, binging on endless Neflix series and beholden to ego-massaging social media platforms etc., where is the visceral day-to-day life that existed before high-tech hijacked our shared lives? The nostalgia you refer to is not for the undeniably difficult conditions of life in the past, it's a yearning to recapture some of the simpler, less technology- driven pleasures of life in pre-21st century societies. We'd better reapproprite the very best aspects of the past before they are lost forever to AI or whatever inhuman novelties the future throws up.

An interesting interview of C.O. maybe with moments of truth? I started following the interviewee way back before he was who he is today. Likewise with TED, I even shared and recommended following what I thought could be the way showers of today. How little did I really know and understand! Today I can be thankful for my own discernment in recognizing that there is no "guru" other than my own inner-standing of myself. I continue on my path of learning and evolving. Listening to conversations like these in the knowing that part may be truth and part may not be so. And so my inner journey continues. "Know thyself" is maybe the biggest takeaway here, as we can see the one finger pointing outwards, and very humbly tackle instead the NINE fingers pointing inwards. It's a long journey in this physical human costume we call LIFE. Time to take off the masks and do the inner work required. Thank you TED for helping me see the uncomfortable (as an avid follower since the start I signed out when I saw the one way narrative) and thank you Yuval for helping me further reflect and witness my own triggers as areas of work I need to still do on myself....

Love and ethical options against intolerance and hate. To use freedom as a term which means unregulated business practice, perpetuating wealth inequality, protecting discrimination - is to carry baggage we don't think about when someone says "freedom". We think of individual, personal freedoms and the ability to live life safely. Using "freedom" in this way is unintentionally manipulating our judgement of whether this "freedom" is worth the cost of inequality. Whatever outcomes of "equality" exist is a state of the present which should be considered independently as a potential issue to be addressed, and is not some direct negative yardstick for the "freedom" of your country. That makes it look like to more "unequal" we are, the more "free" we are. The terms of the discussion are manipulative. If you outline your goals and change the frame of view, you can achieve personal freedoms and a high base quality of life, even if the population still has some inequality.
@luciodere3117
@luciodere3117 Жыл бұрын
A long way to say that freedom is not to be equally applied. Who decides the "how"?
@darrenparis8314
@darrenparis8314 Жыл бұрын
Semantically, it would be closer to say, "freedom is not restricted equally between acts which cause harm and all others." Freedom is not exactly given: It exists everywhere but where it is restricted, and the law offers protections for our rights. I think an important thought in my point is the difference between individual rights and freedoms and calling regulations of institutions a restriction on freedom in general. Another piece of lingual baggage is illustrative: When we say "unequal" we really mean two things: 1) Not all people are equal in ability, intellect, and other characteristics. 2) There is extreme wealth inequality, as well as low social mobility and unequal opportunities. 1) is true 2) Is an ethical concern A wealthy person has at least all the freedoms which a poor person has, but because a wealthy person has more abilities from their wealth, they have, within all those great new abilities, some new capacities to bring harm unto others through the flow of their money and their influence of institutional policies. This is a characteristic of the current system, unregulated, and of being extremely wealthy in the first place. If a poor person were to become rich, there would be the same concerns. The wealthy one has more abilities, and therefore more freedoms than a person without money, despite that they now have a greater ability to cause harm, and now may want to do something unethical which should be regulated. We do not make the wealthy and poor financially equal through regulation, nor free in ability, we make them less unequal by removing barriers to the disadvantaged (by 2, not 1) so that they can raise their abilities and QoL while the wealthier remain unaffected. Total freedoms ought to increase, even if regulations increase, just as QoL should increase regardless of equality. Total, not by percent of everything one might imagine. Inequality should decrease for the sole reason that a degrowth economy is necessary to avert the worst climate outcomes. That is reason enough quite aside from ethical arguments and that wealth inequality is symptomatic of larger socioeconomic and political concerns.

The interviewer asked for an example of brain hacking. There is a form of brain hacking that is so effective and so common and so old that we hardly think of it as brain hacking. The average woman spends close to a quarter of a million dollars over her lifetime on makeup and the like, which hack the primitive parts of the brain to improve her perceived value as a mate. A guy might, for example, consider a woman with makeup/bra/stockings/heels/shapewear/etc. a 7 or 8 rather than a 5. The bra holds her breasts where they would be if she were a decade younger; eyelash extensions make her appear to have high levels of hormones necessary for fertility; heels make her ankles appear slimmer, another indicator of fertility hormones; foundation hides imperfections in her skin, making her appear to have a better immune system; eye shadow and lipstick hint at fertility; and so on. These manipulations are subconscious and have a significant impact, ramping up libidos and messing with the mating marketplace. Brain hacking at its best! :)

@@chaitanyagaur7674 i never heard about ankles looking thinner, but heard about the posture of the pelvis (thus the butt) changing to be slightly tilted, especially with taller heels, which apparently makes the female more attractive as a mate to the male brain. Coming back to "how the thinner appearance "... I think it has to do with the perceived length of the thin part of lower leg. When viewed from front, there will be a relatively longer section of "narrow" part below the calf muscle if a high heel footwear is used as compared to what would be seen with flat footwear. Basically a portion of feet will be counted as part of shinbone unconciously.

There will always be those who will seek mystical assistance in decision making. AI is just the latest version of this. So, if a system "knows" you, whatever that means, and optimizing knowledge is a goal then manipulating your preferences towards outsourcing decisions would redefine you and simplify the optimization. Grifters have used these techniques for centuries to engender dependence on their marks.

Maybe we will consult AI priests and psychics in the future- Cybernetic oracles and prophets until we all become ghosts in the machine or it all collapses into chaos, ecological disaster and we live more like the indigenous people becoming stewards of the land😂

@@crimsontoad The inherent cyclical nature of civilization suggests you may be accurate in your line of reasoning... Spend some time thinking about how the glorious, AI-driven future will benefit the Kalahari Bushmen, or the Awá-Guajá of the Amazon... They will most likely be the residual human populations that tell the future stories to their progeny about the modern "Atlanteans" who mastered flight, and came to think of themselves as Gods, destined to master the nature of nature itself... until they were destroyed by their own hubris. Solon told the story over 3500 years ago. It was not a parable- It was a warning.

Using rigorously resolvable forecasting error we can measure foresight. Foresight is the means by which all life hastens entropy to extract useful energy. The survival of humanity depends on our ability to identify and harness those with foresight into skills to avoid bad outcomes.

Resources Based Economy in the "The Venus Project" could be a real possibility and addresses 90% of our problems just by logic. It's a very simple concept, no one lacks the necessity of life without the need for trade/money (which manifests greed/envy). The logic is sound, if there is no poverty then there is no reason for 90% of "crime". No reason to do all the infinite variety of destructive action humans committ for money/power.

The Judeo-Christian story does seem crazy, and it actually works. God's ethos is so beautiful. Your body/mind/spirit craves love, peace, understanding, satisfaction, purpose and joy. This is attainable thru your own study and ultimate faith in our Lord and savior Jesus Christ. Needs to be your own study, with a small group, as folks like Jim Jones/House of David/cult leaders have their own agenda. What if God and the devil are actually real, and are competing for your soul? Consequences may be eternal.

Replace God " n Devil with good 'n evil. They Do exist. One of which can be catastrophic. There may be a + Regards your govt. having direct access to your health record but I draw the line in that area. As a general public member within humanity I have a Sovereign right to know myself within myself . They will have to kill me to insert any of his info providing stuff that Harari indicates. These things will play havoc with our lives from A to Z. So whatever constitutes the human make up is to be be discarded ! That seems his objective

Let's try to move forward on a voluntary basis. If your narrative is so appealing then tell the story well. Let's allow criticism of our narrative, in fact let's encourage thoughtful criticism. I like the bitcoiners, the cryptopeople and the austro-libertarians and also the genuine transhumanists like kurzweil, diamandis, goertzel etc (not so much the davos 2030 people) Especially the bitcoiners and the austro-libertarians welcome criticism. That's a good sign that at least they believe what theyre saying and that theyre genuine
