@@cherrycheol3266 it's basically the program that happens before the free skate segment. It's usually about 2 minutes and 50 seconds long. Less than the length of an MV. Perhaps the length of an Mcountdown stage. Hence called short program

I think in the short program its is way more critical to skate clean and land all the required elements for scoring and 3A is a bigger risk since its harder.

he broke the 100 barrier in an official ISU competition at the games. he actually broke 100 a little while back before this but bc the competition wasn't sanctioned by the ISU, it couldn't count towards any world records.

What I really really like about him the most besides his crazy passion, is how thankful he is. He just broke another record there and he’s not like I’m the coolest guy in the world ( he is tho let’s be real he’s a legend) but you can see him constantly bowing instead and saying thank you so much. Honestly, I don't even remember how he showed up on my KZbin feed, but I've hardly watched anything else for the last 3 weeks. I'm trying to figure out how I'm going to get back to normal.... There will never be another skater like Yuzu. He was literally perfect. Nobody could skate like him - such power and grace. He is sadly missed in the skating community. It was always a pleasure watching him on the ice.

Why is he missed ? He never stopped skating ! He is doing ice show after ice show, has a youtube channel where he uploads his skating, has instagram and twitter and is basically revolutioning the world of pro skating with his 2h30 solo ice shows. He is even a gucci ambassador. Fans are getting spoiled compared to his competitive era when he tended to disappear with no news for weeks 🤣

coming back to this after news of his retirement from competition. This program was mine and i’m sure many more’s first introduction to him and to the entire figure skating world. It shifting my perception of the sport entirely. Supporting him as a fanyu was and still continues to be an honor. Yuzuru truly is the face of combining incredible athleticism, determination, and artistry. Supporting him in whatever he decides forever!

His 101,45 score was a record breaking one, making him the first ever male skater who surpassed the 100-points mark for the short program. Almost 3 years have passed since the Sochi Olympics, but since then, he already surpassed this score FIVE times, out of which two were another world record scores (2015 NHK Trophy and 2015 Grand Prix Final, 110,95 is the current world record score). He holds the first five places on the highest ever short program scores - in order: 1. GPF 2015, 2. World Championships 2016, 3. GPF 2016 4. NHK Trophy 2015 and 5. NHK Trophy 2016. I don't think there are enough superlatives to describe Yuzuru Hanyu's skating and achievements!

Exactly. Even though i liked it, I never really bothered to watch figure/ice skating at all. Then, I saw Hanyu's first performance in the olympics and it blew me away. Even Ishida Sui drew a picture of him to commemorate his win. In a way he kinda ruined ice skating for me because no one does it like he does. One he retires idk if I'll be able to watch men's ice skating ever again.

This is the performance that totally changed my life 7.5 yrs ago. I still remember vividly the moment I first saw Yuzu skate in this competition (before then, I had stopped following figure skating after Michelle Kwan retired, so naturally, I had not heard about Yuzu before that moment.) Since then, I spent nights after nights trying to find everything about him, learned how to figure skate, passed my domestic figure skating judge test so that I got to sit in domestic competitions using ISU judging gears, visited Ice Rink Sendai with my daughter 4 times and conducted research about how figure skating can improve life. Yuzu is the greatest of all time. I feel blessed having seen him skate. Thank you Yuzu!

@Steph Willer same! I've been seeing a lot of YOI stuff and now a lot of ice skating stuff has gotten in my recommendations but I am honestly happy they are! I used to not know a lot about ice skating but now because of YOI I do which makes me happy I found the anime when I did

That ending step sequence was magnetizing not just for its choreography and technical excellence, but because he had so much clear energy and joy in performing it. We should all be so lucky to find something that we love to do as much as he loves to skate.
