I’ve been a fan of the brand for years but only recently decided to learn more about the man behind it. Coincidentally I see parts of my own personality in him. In this way, I feel inspired by him. I see his timid ness was his greatest strength and I can see how the love of his mother made him truly appreciate women in a time when women were considered less than men. It’s fascinating the impact he made to women’s fashion. I remember I had a high school teacher that always were a suit or atleast a coat with chinos. It was in contrast to every teacher I ever had before and to me she looked more feminine and beautiful in these clothes than the others that were the latest or greatest fashion trends of the time. Had it not been for YSL, I think a woman in a suit could only be becoming as of 2020 but Yves was far ahead of the times. His quote about style being eternal truly sums him up his vision as an artist.

he was brilliant. the scene where he comes up with the Mondrian collection is exactly how an artist's mind works. inspiration can come from literally anywhere.

What's ironic is that logo - by all design standards - is hideous.
