Think about it. His line has been done many times before. A basic polo shirt that actual early polo players wore. He simply copied what the Anglo Saxon's are wearing and put his spin on it! The aristocracy way of dressing. You can go back 80 years and see those clothes at Harvard, Yale,Princeton.....nothing new yet just another way of doing it. Simplicity is the greatest idea that no one ever thought of!

After hearing how he designed...I don't think this level of advertising has ever been achieved by any other brand. Think about it...seeing the ads, the store windows, the way the garments were all brought together to give this entire lifestyle breath...literally the sole reason I buy RL. Every time I see the logo, touch the fabric, or see an in-store boutique, or standalone store, the feeling inside is immeasurable. It makes you feel like you're living the lifestyle! WOW.

Abercrombie & Fitch did a great job doing this in the mid 90s to early 2000s.

"That's the kind of pressure that comes from the immigrants' arriving and thinking that they don't look right, that they are kind of funny-looking and maybe shorter than everyone else, and their clothes aren't expensive...That's why many of them began to sew, so they could imitate the patterns of the day. The secret to making it is use simple ideas and make the clothing that most everyone would wear! Hence Tommy Hilfiger, Michael Kors etc.
@milakletsky15105 жыл бұрын
I disagree - Hilfiger after becoming a mass production and leaving the company had lost his charm, his zest as the company now is in the hands of investment barons. Ralph fortunately still keeps his elegance and uniqueness, let him not loose it on the stock market pleasing shareholders
@mulliganstew725 жыл бұрын
Mila Kletsky Exactly. And Tommy Hilfiger’s choice of fabrics leaves a lot to be desired. The cuts are all boxy and patterns are prairie-like. Michael Kors… His logo is blinding. His Skinny jeans fit well, I’ll give hm that...but that’s about it. I am from Long Island and Ralph...I grew up with Ralph. He knows what’s up.
