Dear Yvonne, I don't know if I can ever express what your videos mean to me. With all the negative crap going on it is so comforting . Your countenance is so loving and pure. You are a beautiful lady inside and out and your videos make this world better. I hope you know what an impact you are making to so many . Thank you Lovingly Lynne

Ivana, You can order rubber rings from thequeenring.com. They are based in Holland and their site is in english as well as dutch. Their shipping seems reasonable but I live in Belgium so it will probably be more for you. Still less than ordering from the US though. And their selection of sizes and colors seems quite nice. I'm only just starting with chainmaille so I can't attest to quality or anything but it's worth a look if you need a EU supplier. Oh and they also take paypal so it's really easy to make a purchase. I don't know what italian banking is like but here it's quite a pain to use a bank card online. I use paypal for everything.

I love this weave, I just saw this video I wanted to make some under armor for a link outfit I'm planning. This looks like the stretch will allow for a pullover top like a chainmaille tunic. I'll experiment and let you know Von. I have a couple of projects going at the same time. lol

Another great tutorial Yvonne! I actually originally found you through looking up how to do chainmail just as an interest and your easy to follow tutorials and great attitude inspired me to buy a kit and actually make a dice bag in euro 4 in 1! I ordered some rings off of the ring lord and I'm looking forward to trying all the weaves you've showed us. I'm hoping to work my way up to the dragon scale soon, that one just looks so cool! Thanks for showing us a new weave, I'd love to see more! Maybe soon you could show us some more using scales? Thanks again and have a great day! xoxo

Wonderful vid! I was wondering if the use of the rubber rings lends the ability for a piece to drape so nicely or does the drape turn out like that even when using all metal rings?
@HadesOfAcheron
@HadesOfAcheron 7 жыл бұрын
The drape will be the same with all metal rings as well. The rubber rings just give the material a nice bit of stretchiness :D
@SynzTheHobbit

It sure has a lovely drape, doesn't it? No matter which way it's lifted, it falls in place.

Heya, Penny! Sir is right; this weave has a great drape regardless of the materials used. The ring size can affect how it comes out. and that is definitely worth experimenting with!

Were you supposed to be using 2 cameras for this video? if so only one was recording. A very interesting new tutorial nonetheless and a nice easy beginner weave. 😀

@Yvonne_Williams With the 8/1 do you think this would be a good pattern to braze or weld?

Vanessa Stamey Amazon is a good place to get bulks of anything. Good thing about this pattern you could use any rings even closed ones. At least for the smaller rings.

nice thing about the oriental weaves is the lack of a "grain" to the drape ... no matter which way you hang it, it hangs the same ... "street legal" ??? ... lol ... works for me ...
@backtoearthcreations
@backtoearthcreations 7 жыл бұрын
That is definitely a perk! Lol! Street Legal is a term we use to describe chainmaille pieces that basically aren't see-through; some of the weaves are way too open to wear in a public area without something underneath it, depending on local laws and such.

What diameters did you use i was thinking m10 lock washer for the big rings and m6 for the small ones Edit: i bought some m10 lock washers and some m6 lock washers turns out the m6 washer are too small and the weave overlaps

There may be many names given to this weave, but the proper name, used by armourers from the Sengoku period, is futae gusari. Interestingly enough, the wire used for the flat links was never larger than 16 AWG and 18 AWG for the cross links. Mostly, the flat links were 18 AWG while the cross links were 20 AWG. The cross links themselves were an oval shape, being wound on a double-rod mandrel, with the short diameter being that of the gauge of the flat links. The finished weave itself was always, without exception, stitched to a cloth or doeskin backing. It was never left in a vacuum as European maille was worn. Edit: I'm sorry, but I'm at the 3:53 mark and can watch no more. Your weaving technique so far is wanting in efficiency to the point that it's driving me crazy. You're wasting time by picking up the flat links twice and then there's this painstakingly putting cross links on the flat link that's just sitting on the table while trying not to bump it. Bollocks! You pick up the flat link, slid the cross links on, close it and move on. All eight links could have been put on that way in the time it took you to do two of them.
