The kit works until it doesn't. I technically should be on my 3rd stator but decided to remove the kit after the last failure left me stranded in the backwoods. I have to say the starter has some great machining but Panthera cut corners on the stator and starter motor. I have multiple riding buddies who also made the purchase and share the same regret and have switched back to the stock stator and are kick starting their bikes or have purchased a bike with a factory installed starter. I would strongly suggest that if you are thinking about buying this kit to do some research.

Just so you know, the Panthera starter kit for the YZ will fit your 1999 YZ250 if you swap in a 2003+ crankshaft
