I think the best way to react to z burst is just using square + x (vanishing assault) when you see the enemy is about to jump you, you will teleport and punish the burst, like a wild sense that costs a bit of ki instead of skill point

The reason you need a skill points against a Z burst dash attack is because it isn't a rush attack. So you have to Super Perception it.

I’ve been playing fighting games seriously for about 10 years. These kinds of arena fighters I’ve never had the chance to actually put time into a lab and there just seems to be a ton of emergent gameplay. You were able to cut through a lot of the casual BS other KZbinrs have been doing and quickly and concisely get to the point and explain the “why” and “how” of defending against this. I’ve been using z burst dash a lot and once I got to B ranks I’ve encountered some players who were able to perception it and it’s been very confusing as to how- now I know. Tysm

4:16 you've got the terms wrong, z-counter is when you vanish and attack from behind, you can do this if timed to the initial hit to dodge it entirely but cant do it at all if getting hit from behind. What you can do to break out of getting hit from behind is super counter, when you time up+triangle to the exact frame or two you get hit then it turns you around and sends your enemy flying. During a sparking burst rush if theyve got your back your best hope is to mash super counter and then your most likely going to start a z-counter chain until one of you messes up the timing or they run you out of ki.

There's another option. You can back up and keep blasting them in the face with ki to stun them. You can also use explosive wave and wild sense on read but that cost 2 skill points every time

Quick tip for people that do not want to spend 1 skill point on their perception doing super perception - You can wait for the perception window that start between 3 to 5 hits so block the first attack and perception the third one.

You can also just side step on reaction to your opponent's z burst dash, it will put you to their side or even behind them and if you're quick enough to react and they aren't, you can get behind them if you aren't already and start a combo. You can also just move back and shoot some ki blasts.

If they go into a rush combo after dashing behind you, and you mistime your step in, block, etc, you can use explosive wave (Vegeta/Trunks has this), or you can bait them using after image strike.

when you z burst dash you can hold square to do a charge attack, if so the opponent has no chance to turn around before being hit. Super ascending and descending are also good ways to dodge it.

Its not that complex for a fighting game, you just have the fighting system to Learn but there is no real 'matchup' to learn besides who is in which fighters category, but that's not that important

3:22 The reason perception didn't work is because it only counters "Rush Attacks" which are just the basic combo you do from mashing the Square(PS5)/X(Xbox) button. You need at least 1 skill point to activate Super Perception instead which blocks most other forms of attack.

@@MetaTrixx That's because while he was using Z-Burst Dash he pressed Square/X and did what the game calls a "Burst Melee Attack", which you can see when Goku Black puts his fists together and swings horizontally. This animation is different per character and isn't countered by normal perception. From there it chains into the regular Rush Attacks which you couldn't perception counter because you were in hitstun from the first attack.

Yeah I’ve seen a couple other things I didn’t actually have in here. That is one of them and it does in fact also work 👊 I also saw that you can use vanishing assault to mess up the tracking at the last moment and you actually get behind them.

Yeah super counters can counter from behind, it's the only way to defend after getting hit from behind (story mode cpus spam this shit), if you're already getting hit then it's not a bad idea to go for it otherwise just trying to prevent getting hit from the back will always be better

I did not play it actually. I work hard every day to learn the game for videos. I’ve probably only played about 70 matches in total. But I’m always in the lab getting a hang of the important stuff while everyone else is just mashing. Once I learn everything I will surpass a ton of players who didn’t break the game down in the same way

If you do perception or side step I will burst dash into ultimate if i'm sparking and you will get hit every single time or at least backwards dash and ki blast you into a combo UNLESS I see you blocking after dash and if you like to block i'll get the grab if i'm not sparking and if I am sparking I'll perfect time the vanish heavy hit and blow your back out send you flying and then ultimate anyways
