You are the first (and only) reviewer who has mentioned the ease of one-handed use and grip with the Fold4, even when unfolded. It gives me SO much confidence to be able to use my tablet on-the-go without fear of dropping it. I know I'm nuts, but I think a foldable should be unfolded. That's Samsung's philosophy, and they even call the inner screen the MAIN screen.

That was my thought process as well. And Samsung did mention that was the reason why they stuck with that ratio. The inner screen IS the main one, and it us to encourage you to open it for the majority of your task.

@gleebeevonkordke2068 Well, I've been saying that portrait should be compared vs portrait, and landscape vs landscape. While rotating the Z Fold will give you the same perspective as a Pixel Fold, rotating a Pixel Fold will not give you the same perspective as a Z Fold. First, many apps STILL will not fill the entire screen. Second, it is impossible to do split-window on a Pixel Fold in portrait.

Completely agree. I actually like the z fold a little more but I don’t need all that productivity and I prefer the better cameras and outer screen for regular use.

Ironically I feel more productive using the pixel. Most apps aren't optimized yet so I have to dual screen everything to fill the space 😅. I absolutely agree that these are for two different types of people. I don't care about one hand holding. I normally two hand my phones, especially typing. Couldn't do anything on the Samsung outer screen. Wished for it to be just a bit wider and shorter. Nothing major but it would help in my opinion. What I do like is customizing things and fine tuning how I want to use my device, which Samsung has pixel beat for me. I really like that there's more than one option now. Hopefully more international versions of these foldables as well. Can't just be Google and Samsung. Looking forward to seeing the one plus fold as well.

I have a s23 ultra and pixel 7 pro and I love the camera and software on the pixel but the screen and experience on th s23 ultra is so much better . My main complaint about pixel is bad battery and overheating issuesn

Man, I don't get it man. I've had a Fold 3 for almost 2 years now (August 2021), and people complain about the front screen all the time, but I never use it. Like, I'm so used to opening it up that it's my default action, sometimes I even one-hand it while open, lol. Why pay so much for a big screen and then not use it?

If you need a stylus then Samsung all the way. I have a fold 3 and use the stylus rarely. So for me no issue. I really didn't get your comment about cant hold it open one handed. It's landscape vs portrait. Just turn it portrait and it's exactly the same size as the z fold. ? Did I miss something? I know the default is landscape but everytime I watch video on my z fold I had to turn it landscape for the best experience. Seen a lot of KZbinrs make this complaint about how things look and they always compare the pixel in landscape to the z fold in portrait. That's not a comparison, they can both be used in either orientation. So it's just the same. Keep up the good content.

I love the design of the pixel fold but sticking with the zf4. The truth is if you have a foldable phone that doesnt compel you to open the larger screen why not just stick to the candybar style? The narrow screen of the zf4 reminds you to use the inside of the phone which is what we paid for. That and the tensor chip needs work smh.

I like the Google Experience OS over the OneUI OS... The 3rd gen of the Pixel Fold to come out next year (because Google's 1st gen we never saw) would be nice to have stylus support. Google does need to tweak the software experience for the bigger inner display--i.e., the launcher experience with widget/app placement anywhere on the screen, and the option for separate experiences between the outer and inner screen. I'm ready for the Pixel Fold... I liked the Z Fold 4 a lot, but not enough to keep it. I'm so glad Google released the Pixel Fold...I miss the foldable experience so much, but if Google didn't release this...I would be stuck with a candy bar style device...unless Asus made something in their Zen department, maybe...

If I hear you accurately, then when you are performing KZbin edits the Samsung wins. My questions is when you are working on legal docs which device is your go to? My old surface duo is by default a dual screen device while the Samsung is (by default) a large one screen that can be adjusted to accommodate dual screen activities. TechOdyssey is my go to for "fair and balanced" (fox news pun) source for all things cellular.

Why would you want a good phone with a tablet experience and complain about it being a tablet and needing 2 hands? Plus not liking having to use 2 hands and then saying he prefers the Z Fold because of the S-Pen which is using 2 hands. I still prefer the standard phone myself. Anyway always great content on here. I have the spen on my z fold three, but I stopped using, it was much faster to type my notes, I did use it to draw but, I hardly ever draw on my phone anymore. I stuck to pen and paper for notes mostly. I fumble my phone when ever I use it for note and end up dropping it.

When phones went narrow and tall...I was stunned by the stupidity of going so narrow...and then in collusion, all mfgs went with it and they grew taller and taller for the last 5 or more years till something reasonable finally came out...be it all too expensive, but hopefully I get my Flip 4 trade in and sell the Google watch for a good price. The Pixel fold is awesome so far!...I don't see any heat issue, even when all the installing of software was going on at first, and battery life has been amazing....in this first day starting at 6am,...still at 50% after playing with the Fold on and off through out the day...now at 3:40pm. Very happy so far!

Where you're getting 10 hours is beyond me unless the brightness is on 10% with battery saving mode, no 5G, no 120hz, and dark mode and all you do is read emails. And yes, the Pixel is a better looking phone. Has nothing to do with the case. Paid shill? Funny guy. Don't quit your day job. I bought both of these phones. The pixel has 2 things on the fold 4. The outer screen size is better and the cameras are better (zoom especially) ...thats it. Absolutely not worth what it would cost me to get a pixel here in Canada (the 512gb version is $3700). My 1tb fold 4 was only about 3k even..

With all due respect to this guy its his channel and he is welcome to his opinion but as someone who has had the Pixel Fold for a week its the best phone I've ever had and trust me I've had dozens. And he keeps talking about how it doesn't lay flat, who freaking cares?? When does it have to lay flat and for what purpose?? No one will notice that 2-3 degrees of not laying flat...if you put it on a table the camera bump prevents it from laying flat anyway and if you are holding you'll NEVER notice that its not 180 degrees trust me. Great review, most complaints about the pixel fold are so subjective that they end up being a non-issue if you consider overall utility and usability. My zfold outer screen was so worthless that i never used it for anything. The end result was me opening it up so many times that in less than 10 mnths my screen was tearing. And unless you are watching media or playing games or working you shouldn't be opening a phone up in tablet mode and it just isnt possible to daily any zfold due to the worthless outer screen. I dont have a use for S Pen in my case, but if I did I would buy a stylus and a case that held it. My Zfold had to be factory reset due to software bugs, it was just a bad phone for a premium price. My pixel fold is superior in everyway especially in battery. Oh and btw any foldable phone in the open positions drains the battery fast.

My Surface Duo 1 is wider both opened and closed than the Pixel Fold but it's never even crossed my mind to attempt holding it completely in my one hand when opened, I just hold it with my left hand from the left side and bottom side of the device and while it's not something I wanna do for an extended period of time, it doesn't bother me to do it that way over holding the whole thing in my hand. I prefer the design of the Pixel Fold, prioritizing the usability of the outside display over the inside one which the Z Fold seems to do in opposite order. The whole reason I never got a Surface Duo at launch is cause it had no outside screen and sure the Z Fold does but it's nowhere near as usable as the Pixel Fold and if that skinny trend cover display continues then I wouldn't get it for that reason alone.

You can't hold it with one hand that way because of the hinge. It would try to close. That's why you never thought of it, and it's too wide.

@@TechOdyssey Right, it is too wide but I guess it's never really bothered me all that much since I rarely have a need or want to hold it one-handed in that position for a long period of time but yeah if you did want to then that would tire out your hand after some time.

@@ArthurZakaryan23 I use the stylus all the time. If you use the stylus you can see why I would use it one handed. Trying to use the Duo one handed with a stylus is impossible because it closes the whole time you're trying to hold it. The Z Fold 4 holds in place and is narrower. Plus I also hold the phones up a lot to make videos and it's impossible to do one handed with the Pixel Fold. This is just some things I'm sharing from my experience. Everyone has different likes and dislikes on phones.

@@TechOdyssey Yeah I can see how that would be a problem. I have a stylus for my Duo but find that even opened I rarely use it, the canvas for me is still a bit too small to comfortably use a stylus on unlike a full size near 10" tablet/display for instance.

@@TechOdyssey I had the fold 4 for a month. After the coolness wears off you realize you are compromising too much. There are still software quirks, worse battery life and camera and questionable durability. It's a neat device don't get me wrong.
