e.g. 1) Listen "blind", no book 2) Read the text 3) Listen Again 4) Read the text, this time look up the words and write them down with synonyms definitions maybe even antonyms. 5) Listen AGAIN. This IS a lot of work but it actually works and is more effecient than read and listen simultaneously with a dictionary which is the second best method. Worst is just be lazy and do whatever.

逐句跟读 = shadowing i always listen to target language at speed spoken by native. i will replay it repeatedly.
Zoe has a lot of awesome methods for learning languages. Also on her other channel too. I teach Mandarin using a method that gets learners to practicing speaking full sentences in a relatively short time by using sentence fragments and layering. I hope others can check out my method as well. Truthfully though, I'd say listening to youtubers like Zoe is an excellent method of improving listening comprehension. Her Chinese accent is very clear compared to most natives, but that's a great thing when starting out to encourage you to continue. 😎😎👍

Zoe? You may already know, it is easier to speak like an American but it is easier to understand the British accent. So, if speaking in English to non-native speakers I will use an English accent. But I encourage my students to talk like an American, and also point out this is why. It is easier for them to talk that way.
in english, in brief: The video provides a detailed introduction to a method for self-studying languages called the "精听精读五步法" (Intensive Listening and Reading Five-Step Method). 1. **Introduction**: The video starts with Zoe giving an introduction to the method, emphasizing its effectiveness for language learners. Zoe mentions that many viewers have requested a detailed demonstration of this method. 2. **Importance of Materials**: For effective learning, one needs to have both audio and text materials. The length of the material should be manageable, preferably not exceeding 3 minutes for audio due to the intensive nature of the method. 3. **Five-Step Method**: - **Step 1 (盲听材料)**: Blindly listen to the material without looking at the text. The aim is to identify known words and guess the overall meaning using context. - **Step 2 (学习文本)**: Open the text and play the audio sentence by sentence. Focus on learning new words and grammar structures. Highlighting and annotating the text can help in retention. - **Step 3 (逐句跟读)**: Follow the audio and read out loud sentence by sentence. This step helps in understanding and practicing pronunciation. - **Step 4 (原速跟读)**: Follow the audio at its original speed. If it's too fast, one can adjust the speed but should ensure fluency. - **Step 5 (原速听)**: Listen to the audio at its original speed, focusing on recognizing newly learned words and grammar structures. 4. **Flexibility**: Zoe emphasizes that the method is a guideline and can be adapted based on individual preferences. For instance, one can choose longer videos if they're particularly interested in the topic or like Zoe's voice. The key is to select materials that one enjoys and to be consistent in practicing. 5. **Conclusion**: Zoe concludes by stating that this method is not the only way to learn a language but is a result of her personal experience learning six languages. She encourages viewers to understand the logic behind the method and adapt it to their own learning style for maximum efficiency. The video ends with an invitation for viewers to share their thoughts and questions in the comments section. Note: The video is in Chinese, and the above summary is a translation and interpretation of the content.
