Love the video. This conversion project is also something on my mind since I have the 2015 model and would love for a smoother gear shift. If it isn't too much too ask, can you provide the detail or link to where you source your clutch assembly?
@comfysofa15492 жыл бұрын
Hi there, well, i was lucky - i found an entire clutch assembly on ebay so just popped the whole lot in, job done. One of the lads on the UK Z forum found out the hard way and in turn, become and expert on the subject....i think there is a difference - which year do you have as that will depend on what parts you need....you can use some parts from your existing clutch...register on the forum - there is a thread in there created by the other lad.... forum is here... z1000uk.proboards.com/

@@BIGVR007 Hey - totally forgot to do a video! I was away when I last posted....is it still a problem for you?

In your standard clutch, Did you have 2 friction plates different to the other friction plates
@comfysofa15496 ай бұрын
@BIGVR007 ooh...it was so long ago...there definitely was one plate in there different but I got the whole clutch pack complete...a few of the other lads have bought just the parts and used their existing plate set....

@@comfysofa1549 is there any common problem with the clutch from factory? Why take the clutch out and drill holes to the basket? Is it necessary to do that on all z1000sx z1000? I heard that many people have problems with the clutch not get lubricate enough with stock basket
@comfysofa15494 жыл бұрын
@@mrconta Ah - not so much a common problem...people do the drilling on the non slipper clutch so make it a little smoother but, personally id just pull the whole lot out and replace with the slipper unit like i did. If you do, the slipper clutch you need is from the 2016 model. The newer ones a slightly different (if youre replacing specific parts on your clutch).

@@comfysofa1549 Okey I see. But can I ride it as it is? Do I really need to do the mod or can I just ride it with these stock parts that was installed on the bike from factory 2014?
@comfysofa15494 жыл бұрын
@@mrconta Absolutely - itll be fine as it is...in fact i would almost advise it....then if you ever fit the slipper unit itll feel like a new bike its that good a mod to do...

No Prob - its on: z1000uk.proboards.com/ Its a really simple job....looks a bit daunting but once its apart you can see how it all goes together...its more a case of getting all the right tools in front of you....i spend more money i think buying tools than anything else....

I'm thinking about doing this conversion I found a parts list and it comes to about 460 bucks for everything. I have never done a clutch on a motorcycle I worked on all my vehicles im just wondering how difficult it was for u and am I going to have to pull the whole basket off or can I just leave it on and pull out the friction plates with a tool
@comfysofa15494 жыл бұрын
It really isnt that hard...you wont need to remove the basket but you will need a holding tool to remove the central part of the basket as thats inherently different...i did see your post on the z1000 forum...youll be suprised at how simple the switch over is...
