The smelter (no matter which way it faces on a platform) will always unload to the right of the "triangle" on a platform. So you can plan your power setup accordingly.

you should be able to make large storage B right now witch is 3 steel witch is vary easy to get since every reasorce is on that planet. and if i remember the amisphic condensor can be unlocked so getting the argon needed for the steel is crazy easy. oh and P.S. evey rail post has the power canection so if you have wind or salor power on the train your wasteing space on the train put it on a platform and for get about it includeing battiers. plug the platform into a rail post along all kinds of power. you dont need it on the train, the train cars pull the power from the rail.

Since you're going to cut through that storm why not take advantage of the chance by setting up a large platform there loaded down with wind turbines for some extra power since the rail line also appears to act as a power line.

I got the Glitchwalkers DLC when it became available and for $15AU it's well worth it. Unlike Z that I guess needs to complete the "mission" to bring out new eps for us I have just been taking my time. No need to rush. I've been exploring the world, creating a empire and collecting _moar and moar_ resources before continuing on with the mission. I have played Astroneer since the alpha and we never had missions, just explored and created things and that's the thing, you don't have to rush through the mission, just play the game and finish it when you feel you want to and get maximum enjoyment out of it rather than rushing through with it and then becoming bored with what to do next.

He's a content creator, not a casual gamer. The longer his playthroughs take, the less views/money he accumulates. We are all free to explore games how we want to, not how you want to. I'm happy for people to move at their own pace, but they don't need to whine if you don't stop to look around and rush the missions.

For your coal energy plant you need to use a T platform for the furnace, You can also probably make your small printer print automaticaly the train rail kit on your storage column, and thus be able to print while driving

I might be wrong, but as far as I understand platform can either be fully in range of auto arm or fully outside its range. What I mean is that it shouldn't matter how much of a platform is visibly in range of auto arm. If at least some part of platform is in range of auto arm said auto arm should be able to access ENTIRE platform with all its machines. Also another thing is that rail engine is NOT the only thing in train that use power. Rail cars also require energy. You can have train with only rail cars. Rail engine only make train move faster.

I made a mobile base with large rovers. That suited me better, each rover has 4 x2 sockets, so they can fit even the largest structures.

Z1, A byte farming method I have used (and this works even better in the first cave) is you know those plants that have the little research things that regrow, if you get 2 proximity repeaters and put 1 or either side of those plants so the circles cover the plants and then then the 2nd proximity also covers the first one, they will continue to trigger each other and trigger the research each time it regrows. If you do this to the plants near your 1st base that have 3 research items on them, you'll get about 350 bytes every few mins. Do it 2 or 3 times and you get about 1000bytes every 8mins (i need to check how long it actually takes to regrow). But if you do this to the plants in the first cavern, each one of those research items is about 450-500+bytes so you could get 1500 bytes from each plant. Again do it 3 or more times and it get 4500+ bytes in the same time frame. Works great, I've been doing this since those repeaters were regained in the catalog not long after the alpha storm firewall went down. Then I have just played the game and I get a constant notification every few mins that I am getting bytes and I've got over 150,000 bytes at the moment. I too had already created a worldwide train system slowly churning out bytes while I built my own railroad company.

Do the research plants down on the first cavern level don't respawn, as they haven't for me. Or maybe they are really really slow?

@@Monty-in-gumboots It's actually kind of weird. When I first installed the repeaters, it had no problem and kept respawning (well I got the notifications) then when I went back up top, no notifications. So when I went back down again, it wasn't working or respawning. So I left it and headed towards my other base near Delta storm and while I was over there, I got the notifications for it again, yet again on return to check it out, not respawning. The top plants have no problem and just respawn and you get constant bytes from them. I have no idea why it changes the further you are away from it. Well that has been my experience with it. I now have over 200k in bytes but have unlocked everything I will use.

Been having lots of fun with this, been a while since Astroneer was hard, actually like it forces you to work your way through early game stuff, you can't just rush bytes. Gotta work through it. But why does zinc seem so rare?. Before watching this, I did same with building train.....

Spoilers, but need help 😂 Am I doing something wrong?? I need to produce the extra hacker keys but the portable d cipher isn't spitting them out. I broke into the core but you need the extrahacker keys to overload and break in again. I assumed you got them by farming storm data but i Fed like 40+ alpha storm data into the portable D cipher and have not getten any extra keys.

fyi each rail post has conecors on each side which you can put small solar or wind turbines on down the track, which is whbat I do when I have a track that goes around the planet i put small solars on them and its always sunny on one side of the planet.
