Z28 Gauge Cluster Swap in a 1994 Caprice

If you wanted to swap a modified 1994 Z28 gauge cluster, into a 1994 Caprice/Impala...
First thing to do is Search in the impala SS forum online, for Gary M. This fully rebuilt cluster he (Gary) re wires the F body plugs to work with the Caprice plug in-
This will cost around 400.00 it’s totally worth it, as the digital dash isn’t that great when it burns out or flickers random numbers - that, and I wanted actual gauges, and a tach, no more LOW/HIGH/ NORMAL range... actual PSI, actual TEMP, actual VOLTAGE.
Sure, you can get a Dakota Digital cluster, but I preferred the look, of this Z28 cluster- and the price was right. Sure, at first, it seems bad to cut up and clearance the inner dash, but trust me, you’ll forget all about that. Just make sure you clean it up and make it as professional of a job as you can . It’s your car. Do it as good as you can. Have pride in your work and everything that you do. Never finish it later.
The only thing I forgot to show, was you need to install a oil pressure sender for a 9C1 or Z28 ( 80 psi electric oil pressure sender) it’s on the back of the engine, right side, behind the valve cover. Gary, can supply the sender, or you can source that on your own. Unscrew the old one with a 1 1/8th or so socket, and screw in the new one. It’s easy, With a extension.
The upgraded LED’s look great. Just test them as you install them as the LED bulbs are one directional, sometimes you need to put them in the other way.
It’s pretty self explanatory, to install.
Sorry for the lame crappy music- I just threw that in there, to avoid copyright stuff. It was a once over, and (probably) better than nothing.
I also threw in some video clips of some cars we used to have back in the day. Still have the Vette, but my brothers white 1970 Nova, and my Dads 66 Nova “Thunder Road” drag car, are gone... if you now own any of those cars, let me know, as I’d REALLY like to have a chance, to buy them back...

I found out about Gary and what he does, by scrolling through pages on an Impala / Caprice group online, about gauge cluster swaps- so I suppose he won’t get upset about sharing his email- online. Hope that helps- I really can’t be happier with his service- it really was a complete package set up with everything you’ll need, other than labor- fully rebuild cluster and all- pretty good deal for around 450.00 - might be a little more these days, but it’s well worth it! @@tkong35 you can buy a Z28 cluster, but the pin put connector is different from a F body (camaro) to a B body (caprice,Impala) you can wire your own adapter pigtail, with a wiring schematic, but it is a lot easier to have Gary M do it. He re builds the clusters as well. I believe I listed his contact info allready in one of the comments, but if you need his email, I can look for it . I’d go that route. All rebuilt , re painted needles, ect and ready to install. He said he can do different colors too. Like a white guage face and blue needles… I almost did that, but wanted a more subtle factory look, and went black, red needles, with white LED bulbs- glad you enjoyed the video 👍🏻 I have more videos to edit, and put up there, but have been busy working on the new shop

It came with the modified cluster- Since the f body (Camaro/firebird) gauge cluster, pin out and wiring is different from the B Body, it needs to be re wired to be able to plug in, and work correctly. You can do this, with a electrical schematic, that you can look up and find out what pin, goes to the corresponding guage… or you can do it how I did- and search online for “Gary M, z28 guage cluster swap in B Body” and you can buy one all re built, and ready to install… it was under 500.00 will everything- ready to go. Saved a ton of time that way- Sure, you can go and order the new Dakota digital cluster with the full sweep gauges and all- but this one, looks period correct and is half the price

Oh, that is just plastic plumbers tape- it won’t scratch anything, and it’s flexible. You can find that at any hardware store, such as Home Depot,Lowes, Ace hardware ect.
