You know what I love about this review. The fact that he is 100% correct! The gen 1 absolutely feels lighter and more playful. Then Gen 2 is quieter and better for power sliding but I would rather have a Gen 1 because it revs better and is lighter and is more comfortable. 2004+ all the way!

Technically theres 3 generations since there was major updates done to the 05 like the suspension, cams, throttle position sensor, and powder coated frames

The Rev box is different too. I thought the Wiring harness was different also.... I purchased mine in 2006 new. Put a Yoshi exhaust, Rev box and a Skid plate on it right away. Now it also has a 434cc kit, jetted and a High flow air filter. I'll keep it till i die! RIDE ON!

Here's what I can tell ya, my 2013 is over 10yrs old now, all original(fmf full exh), been dead nuts reliable, starts perfect, idles perfect, pull the air box or the arrestor, still runs perfectly, no matter the temp, perfect. Hauls the frickin mail, and smokes a piped 04 trx450r in a 0-50 style drag race. Torque and throttle response up the wahzoo! AND..... it's got reverse. What more can you ask for....the perfect quad.

Great comparison. I’ve had gen1 and loved it but I’m trying to decide on a gen1 or gen2 this go around. I plan to do a full custom rebuild on one for a XC machine. Gen 2 certainly takes the win for looks.

Thanks! It really is a tough call these days. It is nice to not have to worry about doing any jetting, and you can tweak the horsepower on the G2 a little bit with the big three. But it is really fun to ride a GEN one when it feels so light And easy to handle. Good luck! Sounds like a fun project .

I know I should watch the whole video but I'm commenting early at 2 minutes 19 seconds, I say bulshit my LTR450 has way more damn legroom than my son's ltz400 and overall is just a bigger machine, at least the way the ergonomics are set up. When I ride my son's LTZ I feel like I'm on a high-powered KX80 too fast for a big guy when I get on my LTR450 it feels nice lots of power on something I fit just my two cents not being mean or video and I'm going to keep watching

Do you think a Ltz400 is a good starter quad.
@FunGoingFast
@FunGoingFast Жыл бұрын
Depends. If you are younger or a lighter and want something with a clutch I wold look at a (Suzuki) Z250 or Honda 250EX. If you are bigger or an adult you could start on a Z400 but be aware they are fast atvs and can build speed quickly. Quickly enough to get in trouble if you haven't been riding long.
