Z51 Corvette C8 vs Base Corvette C8! (Launch Control Racing)

This was a really fun and interesting day! Clearly there's not a lot between a base C8 and a Z51 C8 when it comes to launch control, but there's other areas that count. We'll talk about these areas in a future video as we got to drive Cam's Z51 vehicle and the differences really surprised us.

you will only see a difference in Z51 and non Z51 on a track course on normal streets not really anything

It seemed like he was either not over 500 Miles yet, or didn't double-tap the traction control button, or his tires were cold, or he just wasn't good at dragging. Also, don't you have the Performance Exhaust Option on your car so the HP and torque were the same? In which case the added aero features on the Z51 plus the wing might have slowed him slightly.

Yes, we do have the performance exhaust so they should be near identical.

Z51 has lower diff ratio and should nail it off the line something don’t add up here.

Nice vid. Just ordered my C8 1lt with z51 pkg. I had to upgrade to z51 b/c of constraints, but your take on it is making feel like it is a choice that I’m going to appreciate.

@@breakthrough8628 it was when I ordered mine last may. I got mine July 7th of last year. Z51 1lt and I put some Aerolarri on it. I love the z51 upgrade by the way, even though I have no plans to track it.

Did the Z51 have 500 miles on it yet? C8's are limited a bit by the computer until the car hits 500 miles.

The C8 Sting Ray can be faster then a Z51 because it has higher gearing, and less drag. If the 5 more horsepower is needed get the optional exhaust. Both are 0 to 60 under 3 seconds and allot depends on the launch setup and the driver as to which gets there first.

Z51 slightly slower at the top speed even with the slight 5hp increase, because the spoiler has more drag. Both versions are mighty supercar-fast for such non-supercar bargain prices. Awesome video showing both versions simultaneously!

Back in the day, Colonel Sam Drive in Oshawa was the road to race on. Every Monday morning coming into work, the area you were racing on would be covered in wide rubber tracks that were laid down during the weekend from some serious racing.

Does the base model lt1 lets you change race settings when your in track mode like the z51 package.or all you got is taking off traction control and thats it.

Very limited with settings without Z51.

@@DailyDownshift so when you smash on the brakes does your rpm only lets you go up to 1500-2000 rpm .my c8 lt1 only goes up to 1500-2000 rpm while smashing the brake and on full throttle .and i dont see the other race settings every one is talking about

No it doesn’t. Z51 is a must imho as well as rhe magnetic ride suspension w after market exhaust adding another 20hp.

Should add mud/rock guards from ACS. They look great - not cheap; but, protect the sides of the car. Also add front radiator guards to protect against stones, bugs etc.

Out of all those tries, you guys didn't start at the same time even once. Practice at the 1/4 mi track. i used to do this with my Z28 when I was in high school every Saturday on top of the street races. Reaction time is key. Then try to remake this video to make a clear comparison. I'm just trying to help so you guys get more subscribers and do better. I operate on people now for a living and have kids, but I still like fast cars and will take my c8 vette to the track as soon as its actually made. Damn 2020 delays. A very good video. I get the impression that you guys are spending too much time concentrating on your car being a non Z51. There are other options such as the 2 LT trim, front end lift etc. Both cars are very good but in my opinion the Z51 stops quicker and has better cooling, shocks etc. Most C8 Corvette owners don’t have an issue opting for the cost of the Z51 option. Hope you don’t mind the feedback😊

W out spoiler from the rear the csr looksweird, the trunk angle is the problem. Straight spoiler evens out that weird sloped trunk angle.

Cool video boys 😎.. a few things I noticed , the rear flows so much better without the spoiler , and MRR wheels with the higher offset really helps the stance and the car looks lower ! I do like the Z51 front spliter, but would probably go aftermarket to match the carbon flash that's everywhere .. My TPW is pushed to 7/13 :( ..cant wait though!!

Dear cindy c7 z is apx 3.6 seconds 0 to 60 because of traction issues. I have found it impossible to hit the published 2.9 seconds. Mid engine hooks up waaaaay better.

I took my Z51 C8 to the drag strip last year. Put it in launch fro the first time and got horrible wheel hop so I had to back off. Tried in next time without launch and the same thing happened. The rear wheels started bouncing so bad I thought I was going to damage my car. I did not got through the burnout out spot first. Any ideas why my car wouldn't hook up and leave the lights smoothly? I am stumped and afraid to try it again this year.

I'm surprised at how much I can't stand the rear wing on the Z51. It looks just horrible, like a cheap parts bin item. I'm really warming up to the clean look of the base Vette. And I do like how you've added spacers for your new wheels. Looks much better than the Z51 wheels, which look anemic and tucked in, by comparison.

Dear han. This is as real as it gets. The car has a built in 0 to 60 timer from the moment wheels stsrt spinning to the moment it reaches 60mph. Takes out the driver reaction time. Nothing more real tha. That.

Let's see, you guys are from some country or another that resembles the USA. You purchased your C8 while in America some months back. Currently, you're bringing base C8 from Canada down into the US. So, while you're on your American cruise, you are racing your Canadian C8 on American roads. and thus, wearing American roads out. Who pays for the upkeep on American roads? Why, Americans do, that's who! I can't imagine the American judges not paying their fair share. ...Well, you're good guys and I can't imagine not seeing you C8 on American TV. Or something like that... Lastly, I can't imagine not seeing you ugly faces on my screen! So, hurry it up, already... lol
