Hey Ed! I'm glad I found this video! Because I've got a to 600 that I bought that has a battery in it built by YOU! And I've been trying to get a battery for my 8g005ytz1 along with the separate small round battery that sets in that little cubby behind the antenna. I didn't know if you still made them or not but I know that the battery I do have has your sticker on the back side of it! btw....hey from a fellow Virginian! (Gloucester, VA) I have literally fell in love with the Trans-Oceanics! Almost to addiction status! Lol! It was the whole reason I discovered the world of Shortwave! I started with a Y600 that I purchased from an antique store, and I've been a listener ever since! 🤗 Anyway sorry for the long rambling paragraph...... Just glad to see you're still out there!

That’s cool you bought a radio with one of my batteries in it. If you go to my website you can find the batteries you need for your 8G009 radio.

Loctal base tubes were unique, no danger of them popping out of the socket. Loctals are still available and reasonably priced.

Yeah thankfully they are! 😅 Because the smaller ones Ive bought for my 600 series over the last year are pretty expensive! Especially the 50A1 And the 1L6. And if they're NOS..... Almost getting into the three-digit range!! 🤦♀️ When I got my 8g005, I was thinking the tubes were going to be really expensive, but to my surprise..... Very cheap!!! 🤗

I'd like to see a video where you show replacing the suction cups and links to the cups please.
@morrised200610 ай бұрын
I don’t have a video for that. The OEM suction cups attach to the hinges with a nut and bolt. Simple to remove. New suction cups for grabbers install the same way. Search online for them.

In the late 40s and early 50s, the worst source of radio noise at home was a vacuum cleaner. I had an RCA battery radio like that with a VS050 battery, 7.5-6v A and 75v B.

Your old radio would definitely not like a vacuum cleaner near by. Thanks for the memories!

I understand the later 40's used a selenium rectifier replacing the octal 117Z3.

Thanks for your comments about Loktals and selenium rectifiers.

You have to go to my website to purchase a battery kit. The URL is on my channel header or go to edsantiqueradios.com. There are several battery options, so read and follow the instructions. You can email me from the website if you have questions.
