Matt, that is a beautifully done video with the 85f1.2. Thank you for the inspiration. I am not much of a video guy, so I will start with my Z7II and the 85f1.2 in stills. Maybe a few short video. By the way, i love the whole harbour video without a single spoken word. You let your creation speak for itself.

Thanks for sharing your almost 4 decades of experience with me. Also, I should say a big thank you for the great gift, " Sydney a love affair", a photo book by Matt Irwin. This book is not only very beautiful but also will give us very good idea about photography. For the people who are looking for improvement in composition, I highly recommend to get one of this book from Matt's website.

Stunningly captured, Matt! More importantly, will there be a Nikon Live in Melbourne? I have gone down the rabbit hole of prime lenses for its portability! I have enjoyed Z 40mm f/2.0, Z 50mm f/1.8, Viltrox 20mm f/2.8 and now Z 35mm f/1.4 is coming hopefully by end of the week! It's 20% off and no brainer!

Hi Matt, gorgeous video. I am looking to buy a Z6iii and keen to try video for the first time properly, especially for an upcoming trip to Japan. Would love to know what ISO you were generally recording in and was the 85 always at 1.2? I will be getting the z6iii with the 24-120 and then looking to buy 1 prime for night / low light and still try to work out focal length as I only have the budget for 1 prime so want to make it count. Original thought were leaning towards the 50mm 1.8s. Cheers!

I'd love the goldilocks of Z7iii but my guess that would be 2026 if at all?

i saw the same flickering but i also saw heavy compression artifacts with it which i blame on the youtube compression.

@@stefanweilhartner4415 Those artifacts are from KZbin. Uploading the video in HDR might help. But KZbin videos are nowhere near the quality of the original videos.

@@KNZ5 It is KZbin, the file goes from my original render, which is already not as good as the actual files out of camera. I upload 3.1GB file, KZbin compresses it even further to 612MB when viewing in 4K

Hi Matt, very impressive video and sound track. Is this Nikon Live first event in Australia? Will it ever come to Melbourne? I was at Melbourne Ted's Z6III hand on event but I did not stay long enough. So not sure if there are hand on session after I left. This video gave confident back after watching Tony Northrup test on Nikon Z6III.
@MattIrwinPhotography3 ай бұрын
It would be so great if something like Nikon Live could happen in Melbourne. The Z6III is part of a system, which includes the mount and the lenses which are possible from the mount, put these tools together and for example in the case of this video I was able to capture these images in under 3 hours, handheld, with ISO's between 100 and 6400, and it looks so great, I will follow up this video with a 'how I made this video' video. :)

Hi Matt, Do you think Nikon will bring a 24mp Z9 out to counter the canon R1?
@MattIrwinPhotography3 ай бұрын
It is so hard to say, in a way the Z6III is a lot of that today. And obviously a lot cheaper than the R1. I think there are a few other cameras needed first, cameras which have been released for 4/5 years like the Z50 and Z5, could use updates, also perhaps a Z500, as there seems to be demand for it, and what will we see in the way of a RED ZED? The Z9 is already such a powerful tool. But you never know they could surprise us. :)

A lot of us would be shooting either that or 4K 10 bit flat. A pity it is not 4.2.2. Matt do you think Nikon will add that possibility?
@stefanweilhartner44153 ай бұрын
yes, the video looks great but somehow looks very different to an analog film or in a movie. i wonder how this would look after applying some analog film emulation filters to it. that would be amazing to see what could be done in postprocessing to create a cinematic look. i guess in that night video is dominated by cold blueish lights which results in this kind of unnatural cold colors. the question is, how was your perception with your eyes? how would this video look if giving it a bit warmer color in postprocessing? did you eyes see the colors the same way?
@MattIrwinPhotography3 ай бұрын
I am planning of making a follow up video to this one, which shows all the settings on how it was done, I can also create some alternate 'gradings'. I don't think it would take much at all to create a range of looks.

Well who it going to want to play with the Noct after you kissed and licked it? It's yours now! :poke: :^) You know, after you talked me into the 135 Plena now you're making me lust over the 85mmf/1.2, which truth be told, might be a better fit for my use case. I have the f/1.8 which seems to do 98% of the 1.2. I'd say have fun, but you're way past that I see!
