Listening to Riddick speak is exactly why Floyd fight the way he does and you have to respect it.
@gregorylagrange
@gregorylagrange 3 жыл бұрын
Was going to make note of that too. Same with Holyfield and his speech patterns. I'm going to look up at least that particular round, but the criticism people have against Floyd from people who think everything is supposed to be a slug fest is ignorant. Ali is the greatest in the most beloved and has many life story aspects to justify being considered the greatest overall, but the argument for Floyd being the greatest pound for pound just on his skill level, I can't really argue against.

That's true if you take Floyd's word for it. "It's not cool to take punishment"-Floyd the humanitarian Floyd likes to preach defense-first to excuse lackluster efforts.It's marketing. There are brawlers with no signs of brain damage and defensive boxers who talk just like Riddick.There is no science to it.It's a conflip.Your favorite fighter might end up with brain damage.And it shouldn't come as a suprise.That said,Riddick seems happy and coherent. While Floyd's uncle Roger ended up passing from dementia and Floyd Sr.' memory is steadily regressing,Just look at guys like Pernell Whiaker or Wilfred Benitez.They might have had even better defense than Floyd.Stop jinxing Floyd!

Sports Illustrated did a article on this and 78% of NFL players go broke or are under huge financial trouble within 2 years of retirement. 60% of NBA players go through the same thing within 5 years of retirement. It’s difficult for me to understand how a player that signs a $100 million dollar 10 year contract goes broke. I know that the $100 million is $55-$60 million after taxes then his agent gets 10%-15% ,then a few houses for him and his family. Add in all the half million dollar cars that depreciate like crazy,the designer clothes,millions in jewelry that isn’t worth shit for resale. If they just put $10 million away and invested it,they could live very well just off the interest for the rest of their lives. But I understand that if you get that type of money and you have never had money before in your life you will go crazy and start buying bouncing Lamborghini’s,chartering private jets at $50,000-$100,000 a trip.
@cap536
@cap536 3 жыл бұрын
@@tomking7080 wow those numbers are crazy and your right I don’t get it either, how do you go from making 50-100 million or more in your overall career to being penny less....unless your just spending and spending and spending
@EnduroDreaming
@EnduroDreaming 3 жыл бұрын
@@cap536 It’s easy. They either never invest/make bad investments, save no money and spend like they’re always going to be making the same salary. If they just put half of every game check in a savings account/ etf/mutual fund, bought multiple apartment buildings and other real estate that they could rent out then they would always have a passive income. You could spend like $5 million on let’s say 300 units and after all the expenses you could be making $150k a month for life and be able to retire comfortably from a sports career.

I know it seems like alot of money but let's break it down. Let's say a boxer got a big break and made $10 million for a fight. The government takes 40% so that leaves him with 6 million. The manager takes 10% so that leaves him with 5 million. From that he has to pay his entire staff that includes trainers, nutritionists, sparring partners, training facilities etc. That's another Million. He just went out and got himself a million dollar house and a $400k Rolls Royce that he can drive on special occasions and a $100k BMW that he daily drives. Now he's got 2.5 million. He's gotta keep up with that millionaire lifestyle til his next fight and his staff wont work on consignment anymore so he's gotta pay that money upfront. The boxer is lucky if he comes out of that with a net worth of a million.

I can tell you didnt start watching boxing til about the late 2000's so you cant help your ignorance not your fault you were born in the wrong era so you cant help the fact that you dont appreciate traditional boxing.

People have to realize when they say "made 80million in his career" that what things added up to over time its not like the fighter got all that money in a lump some so yes its very easy to go broke especially if the fighter has no financial literacy. Get a check fa a few mill hell by the time the next fight come the fighter most likely is trying to replace money spent or done got in dept regardless of witch its a game of catch up now by the end of the career the fighter done built up this expensive lifestyle living check to check and now has no way to bring that type of money in anymore the bills still coming and thats when shit get real

Next to Liston , Bowe is the fighter with the greatest what if. I think personally he was better than tyson when he fought Lewis during the Olympics he was openly robbed I not saying he would of won but he was fucked over by the ref.
