Nice presentaion. A few questions though. 1.Why not using CT (if you can it would be a priviledged or not CT?) instead of VM? 2.H/W specs for a typical installation? (cores? ram? storage?) 3.Performance wise , wont running Zabbix in proxmox going to affect the monitored VMs since proxmox also has monitor capabilities? 4.Setup of Zabbix database, I assume you can change the name of the user as you can with the password right?

1. I'm using proxmox cluster. proxmox will shutdown CT, migrate and start up again. I don't want that. with VMs proxmox does live migration which keeps VM and zabbix running during migration. 2. my zabbix setup - 4cores, 4gb ram, 64gb storage. that is plenty to keep 120d worth of data. by default zabbix stores 365days - i changed that to 120 3. if there is a clash between them - it is so small i can't notice. i would need to spend months comparing pulled data between them to spot the difference. 4. Yes you can. you can pick what ever name and password you want for zabbix DB user. On initial web GUI setup you will have to enter your created user details.

It seems like Zabbix does not support Arch linux or any other arch based linux distros like Manjaro or EndevourOS. 🤷♀ Because I don't see it in the list.

I think its more convenient to connect hypervisors to zabbix via api
@MRPtech5 ай бұрын
i could be wrong, but setting up API connection to Proxmox requires more configuration: setting up users, generating API keys, ect.

Just going to work through this to set up at home and at work. Would be nice to see a video on how to set up VPN with no fixed IP from ISP as at the moment i just rustdesk in to my homelab at home when im not busy in work. Don't want to use tailscale etc as i read up that your data goes through their servers. Alos have navidrome going via cloudflare tunnels and would like to find a solution on how i can just stream it straight from home pc instead of via cloudlfare also. Keep up the good work as you always have interesting videos.

use WireGuard if you don't trust Tailscale.. but you still need a public IP or some VPS outside at least
@MRPtech5 ай бұрын
Yes, i suggest same as @DimmuBoy Use Wireguard instead of Tailscale. Not sure why you don't trust Tailscale. It's your choice - just weird not to use Tailscale for this. Super easy to setup and it has a massive list of features.
