Hey Conan, what do you think about Haiti?
@Lurdiak7 ай бұрын
It's sad that conservative skewering of what they see as 'woke' and 'pc' culture is so often formulaic, hollow and filled with rage, because there really is a lot of actual comedy to be mined from that sort of thing, but you can't really get to it if you're filled with hatred at the very concept. I'm always reminded of an old onion article about a college student who's in a feminist group and brags about how she's constantly undercutting and humiliating the other women to advance herself by being more performatively feminist and knowing more theory. Just an obvious contradiction and contrasting nakedly selfish behavior with an environment meant to be about solidarity, it's really good, but someone who simply despises feminism as an idea could never make that joke, because they can't inhabit the concept enough to deconstruct it.

If crime is fire and police are the water then the basic needs humans need to survive is the fuel. Most crime is a manifestation of desperation. You don't steal bread if you and your family aren't starving. Socrates spelled this out thousands of years ago and we still don't get it The ultimate goal is to have a society so healthy you don't need police but we keep moving in the opposite direction

Off topic, but in case you weren’t aware, Conan is getting absolutely savaged on social media for an almost unbelievably out-of-touch statement on Haiti. If that was his personal decision, I’d understand. But if someone on his staff encouraged him to do that, that person should be fired!
