When I was 33 I moved in with a friend (who had bad receding hair), and I made a little living area in his basement. After a few months I started losing my hair in the front. My brother and my cousins had all had receding hairlines for years, so I thought it was just my time. After living there for just over a year I moved, and within a several months my hair started growing back. It was obviously something in the environment I was living in. Im 49 now, and still have more hair than I did at 34 because I lived in that basement for that year.

Be you, confidence is more attractive than hair. I hated my hair loss… wore hats, combed it differently, used a “hair system” (expensive)… started using Toppik which a lot of these use. Product is “hair fibers” and if you enough hair, it will help mask the scalp and be pretty convincing. Finally though, there’s not enough hair to make it work. But, finally just said whatever and just excepted reality. Much happier now. It doesn’t take long and those around me that love me are very accepting and happy that I’m happy.

I did a hair transplant, and I'm not embarrassed to admit it. My 2 cents on it is, if you're balding, try finasteride and minoxidil topical (using a dropper) first. If that doesn't work them try the oral stuff. I'd also say try a red light therapy cap if you can too. Use shampoo and conditioner that's made by hair restore places and only wash your hair 3-4 times a week. If you have success with the above and still want to do a hair transplant, then do a consultation.

Had 3 transplants over two years after it all healed and grew out it looked fantastic. just had a bit of receding to the front and thinning so I got it done. Got to get a good transplant surgeon. Oddly enough, my surgeon did Franco Rossi's of Status Quo transplant some years ago. I had mine about 24 years ago. Minoxidil did nothing for me. Finesteride can make the hair grow thicker, for most, it will only stop the hair loss getting worse though and you have to keep taking it or your hair loss will continue. Washing your hair less or more doesn't affect hair loss at all, it is, after all just "dead". Just the bit at the follicle end is alive and growing

George Lynch is 70 now & still has his hair, hair is a lil thinner but its real tho. As someone stated not everyone loses their hair...my ex father in law still has his hair at 82...grey but still has it. Ex-husband is 58 & still has full head of hair. I date a guy thats 65 & he still has a full head of hair...he only recently started getting the salt & pepper look ❤😎 Genetics not necessarily age determines what you end up with.

Yes, genetics plays a big part. I’m about to be 56 and have all my hair, just now getting the gray highlights on the sides. My dad died at age 82 and had all his hair, though it was stark white. My grandfather lived to be 85 and he had a head full of salt and pepper hair.

So my dads grandfather on his mothers side apparently kept his hair as my dad kept his.. However, my dads brother(still alive but in his 80s) has very little hair left.. guess its a crapshoot

Ringo with the shaved head look was somewhere early-mid 70s. He was at the height of his drinking problem and so that might have something to do with it. He claimed in an interview at some point that he did it because he thought that he had boils on his scalp. He had his hair short for a while in the 2000s as well and didn't seem to show any signs of thinning hair. It is dyed, maybe he did have a transplant at some point, but I think it's mostly if not all his natural hair. Paul McCartney...it was his real hair until at least the late 90s into the 2000s as you can see footage and photos where it's slightly longer or shorter. Around the time that Linda died, he dyed it red and cut it short and it's never looked as good as it used to since. So he may have had some sort of procedure done around that time. Mick...if it's a wig then he was very quick to get onto it because he's never been out of the spotlight for long and there would be some photo somewhere where you could see something going on.

As a bonus, they’re the thing that keeps this old man buzz-cutting my hair down to nothing rather than trying any of that nonsense. I started actually going bald late teens very early 20’s. It was depressing but I just kept shaving my head shorter and shorter until I was shaving it with a razor. I’m 44 now and have been bald just over the same amount as I had hair. It’s not a big deal. It sucks at first but you just pull yourself up and move forward. Have confidence and you will be attractive.

Seagal is just straight up a toupee. The CC Deville one I think is real because I was around in the 80s and knew people with that hairstyle. Also, Sarzo is Cuban, so dark would be his natural hair color. The blonde was at some point during his Whitesnake tenure I think. I've also been close to him at an event and his hair looked real.

it is a shame there is so much stigma and poking fun at men wearing wigs when they lose their hair; I think the men losing their hair is just as devastating to them as when women lose their hair, but their seems to be this thing that men should just accept it and get in with it, women have so much more sympathy and even free treatment on the NHS in the UK, which men do not get, it is just so sad,

Jon Bon Jovi did mention in an interview in the late 90s that he'd started getting regular scalp massages as he'd heard that it'd prevent hair loss. That doesn't mean it is or isn't a wig but he was clearly thinking about the issue.

I agree with the others-- my mother was a beautician back in the day, and I learned a lot of the tricks to live through the 80s big-hair phase as a teen... Nothing I see about BonJovi's current hair says "fake" to me. It's just styled with a bit of teasing and hairspray.

It's very satisfying to see these people liberate themselves. My hairs been long gone but I still check out their videos because it's really great to see the stress just lift when folks decide to just go for it and shave it off. I can definitely relate, bro. I didnt really care but I did in a small way. I never lost sleep and only resorted to close cropping my hair but after only a few times and just went with the clean shave!

I think this is really good that you’re doing this wig series, thank you. The fake that we all fell for for so long has just gotta go. I was blessed to have been in my early 20’s during the glam rock scene of the 80’s and of course hair was ESSENTIAL. It always kindof blew my mind how awesome all these dudes hair was, when in actuality most of it was fake! My boyfriend had the most gorgeous long blond hair (and still has a great head of hair) and little did we know that these famous rockers were paying for theirs! I feel for these guys (and women) trying so desperately to hold on to their youth by getting fake this and fake that (aging really does suck) but they aren’t fooling anyone! Take care of yourself and be the best and healthiest version of the REAL you in order to be truly hot! 🔥

You are not alone. I've been slowly losing my hair over the last twenty five years (when I first noticed the thin patch right on top) and it still hasn't buggered off yet. Over the last couple of years I've been shaving my head for public appearances and gigs and such but I'm getting tired of doing that and I'm considering just growing it back, big old bald spot and all, and acknowledging my aging. Sometimes shaving the head is every bit as much a way of covering up hair loss as a wig or a transplant - Look, I'm choosing to do it, it's my "look", etc - but no-one's under any illusion that we do it purely out of choice rather than because we're losing our hair. I think I'm really more concerned that, at 55, the lustrous cascade of dark brown curls will actually be grey - my beard is now totally white. Maybe I should get creative with colours... Oh, and yeah, I remember when Gary Numan first got his transplant back in the 80s. At one point he was better known over here in the UK for that and crashing his plane than he was for his music, poor guy. Glad he's turned that around.

I think Gary Numan has always said he wears wigs. He admitted trying transplants in the late 70's/early 80's that didnt work out.

Steven Tyler probably has a wig. He said in his drug heyday of the 70s his hair was falling out in clumps. I saw a video of Aerosmith live in 1982, and Steven's hair looked very similar to his hair today. In 1982 at least, it looked like he had a weave or extensions in. His hair was also wavy, but sometime in the 90s and 2000s it became straight and was styled like a middle-aged mom.

transplants have gotten soo much better its hard to tell. the problem is these artists go to cheap countries to get them cheap (around $2-4k) and remain a secret. they usually go to "clinics" in Turkey where a student is doing the work. some of those clinics do bad jobs and thats why you see the hair going in different directions. hair that is transplanted form the sides goes at different angles and have a different texture and these clinics have so many many patients they hurry through everything

As I stated last time, I'm amazed that in 2024, men really get troubled by losing their hair. Vanity is never worth pursuing. Your hair, or lack of it, doesn't define who you are. Perhaps if you're a teen, or early to mid-20's before you've settled down, but even then, it's HAIR. It's not important.

Eric Clapton wore a beret in the early 70's while in public. I suspect transplanted hair because Roy Clark had a similar procedure and wore a hat for couple of years as well. I have read that transplanted hair falls out initially then grows back. I am speculating on this assertion.

I had a best friend that started going bald right after high school he had enough hair on his chest and back to make a wig for everybody, but could not grow it on his head and all the transplants. None of them worked and God bless him he just never could figure it out, but didn’t have a problem growing hair anywhere else

Late 90's, I interviewed Neil Sadaka. On the morning of the interview Neil called asking if it was TV or Radio? Later that day Neil turned up wearing a baseball cap for our radio interview explaining that he only wears a hair piece for on screen appearances. He explained that without his hair nobody recognised him, but he enjoyed the freedom that gave him in his private life. Got to admit that he had a great sence of humour about that whole situation explaining its part of "the act". Often think that Brian Johnson of ACDC may also enjoy a little piece and quiet when he removes his cap in his private life too? As for Neil, he protected the super power anonymity it gave when not wearing it. Suppose everyone is different, right?

This was very amusing and interesting … baldy myself. I had long hair down over my shoulders and between my shoulder blades when I left school, but sadly, that didn’t last. In my late thirties, I had to concede that nature had other ideas. First I went for the cropped look … which was traumatic enough, but in the end I just shaved my head and gave in to it. I’m happy now. No comb over for me!😂 I think that shaving it all off still looks way better than most of those wigs and especially the comb over.
