I agree with you 100%. Artists like Beyoncé and Frank Ocean can go 6 (or more) years without an album and people will still be waiting. They’ve proven themselves and established a career that will outlast themselves. Their artistry speaks for itself and keeps fans satisfied for years, allowing them to take the time to craft their next masterpiece. Normani doesn’t have that luxury, especially when it’s 2 years between SINGLES with no album out.

This is what I’ve been afraid of when it comes to Normani. She is starting to become a pop up shop girl and I hate it because she’s so talented and her music is sickening! Motivation should have gotten more, when she was on tour with Ariana she should have released her album because that would have been the power move she needed. Can you imagine the pop she would have gotten as an opener for Ariana if the crowd had more to sing other than 1 single, 2 collabs and old Fifth Harmony music? I need consistency because the talent is there so what’s the problem? Your fans will not wait forever and you’ve been a solo artist for over 2 years now so your clock is running out. Her counterparts are dropping singles and albums easily so what’s holding her back? She has the fan base and the hype is there for now but it won’t always be.

@@melaninatedgoddess3678 That is unfortunate, and very sad to hear. All I want is for her to succeed, like Zach was saying. She is incredible live, and has so much talent. However, at the same time, someone has to get it together. As a fan, it’s hard to push for her when there simply is no content to share. There are too many missed marks. That album should’ve come out when she was getting Motivation hype and the hype from 2018 Love Lies carried into 2019 and she also released Dancing With a Stranger in 2019 too. You know what I never thought about that... we all want her to be this huge mega star but like maybe she doesn’t want that... perhaps she is fine with this. Perfecting a performance serving it and then relaxing slightly out of the public eye. It would be interesting if that’s her view cause maybe we should stop and just accept what she lets out. But she’s voiced wanting to be a big star and she can be one so it’s just all so confusing.

Exactly. The problem is that her fans hope she should be the new Beyonce and has the level of star of beyonce. But the reality is that normani seems don't like this thing. It's clearly she likes a normal peacefull live out of spotlight releasing a song each 4 years and nothing more but her fans like zac pressure her a lot to be a megastar. Maybe the problem of dessilution is of her fans only and not of herself who seems very happy releasing a song each 4 years. The fans and their high expectations is the main problem.

And this is why Zach’s commentary is needed because a lot of these artists’ fans are “yes men”. They will never call their fave out or help them to improve on anything because they see constructive criticism as “disrespect”. Normani has the potential and we can all see that so whoever is holding her back whether that be her team, label needs an adjustment. And i know she’s a perfectionist but you CANNOT make a perfect album it’s impossible. Not everyone is gonna like it not every critic is gonna feel it and if you’re making this album so that it can be well received then you’re making it for the wrong reasons and sabotaging yourself. Some artists’ best work is when they let their creativity run free without any pressure! Camila Cabello dropped her debut 1 year after she left 5H there’s no reason why Normani should be taking 3 years and counting. The real question would be " Is this even her passion?". She works to perfect her performances but maybe she just loves the performance side. I feel like if she was passionate about music then she would be posting videos of her singing and/or of her dancing to music. Instead , she comes across as a model. If she was passionate about the music side of things then I would see that. The last time I saw her consistently singing was when with the other girls. I know everyone is different but people like chloexhalle, olivia rodrigo, and etc are always singing online because they love it. Even Lauren, her ex band mate, left her label so she could do music she wants to do. Zach, YES. I agree with so much of what you said. She is not an established artist yet so we should be seeing her EVERYWHERE to get her to that point. Not to compare, but Doja/Team are on the completely opposite side of that spectrum where she’s being overworked, but the results are there. She’s growing. She’s becoming that gworl. I’m not saying to be overworked, but that’s a GREAT example that shows how being consistent correlates to actually establishing a presence in music.

Doja was always dropping music on sound cloud and KZbin before her viral hits. Doja has been putting out good music for a WHILE, It just took the mainstream people a while to listen to her because she wasn't being marketed well. Normani is not the only darkskin talent in this industry and CERTAINLY won’t be the last. Let’s stop acting like there is this limited amount of darkskin talent in this world and we have to settle and root for someone that underrepresents darkskin women poorly. We got to let there be a darkskin woman THAT WILL TRULY BRING IT. And Normani isn’t bringing it, she just isn’t. As a day one fan since fifth harmony, Normani has been sabotaged so much I think she’s traumatized of the industry. We all know she has it all to succeed but she is very reserved and a perfectionist which probably stems from people counting her out since the beginning being a dark skin black woman in a racist industry. She could’ve been released her album but I feel like besides Sean , her dancers, and her glam team , she need to leave rca , drop Brandon trifling ass and either go indie or find a better label that knows how to and wants to market her. They know she’s a threat and I believe it’s people closer to her keeping her down on purpose so that she won’t be successful and she needs to realize that before it’s too late.

After putting her own funds into Wild Side I’m convinced she is trying her best to remain visible but either leave RCA or rework that contract. People keep saying Megan's freestyles are better than her LPs/album, but it started occurring to me that maybe she's saving her best until she can get away from 1501. Same with Normani/RCA. I fully believe that Normani is NOT getting the support from her label she needs. I honestly don't even put it on her because she's CLEARLY doing what she can to stay relevant, even going into her own bags, and giving us bops and performances in spite of her unhelpful label. She posts a LOT of videos of her dancing to things. I think she would be an amazing choreographer. There’s nothing wrong with her being a model and dancer. I’ve seen her do way more of both than singing. At this point there are girls that came out long after her that are blowing past her in terms of widespread attention. I know her team isn’t amazing. But even people who have shit teams do their best to reach out to their audience to let them know they they’re still trying their best. Zayn is on the same label as her. And even though his team was terrible at promoting him, he still released songs online for his fans. Long story short, I don’t think Normani cares about singing that much. The only thing that ticks me off is the compassion with Doja Cat and Tinashe. People don’t realize that Doja was signed in 2013. It took RCA FOUR YEARS before they put money behind Doja, and that was only because she was able to go viral with MOO. In my opinion, Normani needs to take her career into her own hands if she ever thinks she will be able to release a body of work that people have been waiting on. At the end of the day, these labels are not putting the same amount of money behind artists the way they used to. They make folks suffer in ways of having to do the work yourself instead a real marketing plan and official releases. It sucks but it’s the reality.

The thing with Normani is she’s become too complacent… Like she should be FIGHTING to get new music out!!! It honestly feels like it doesn’t bother her that she’s taking these gaps because she feels secure everyone will show out for her… Her fans might BUT there’s still an audience who doesn’t know the name of the singer on wild side… I know many people I’ve played the song around and they don’t know who she is! I’m sorry she’s not a Beyoncé or Adele. Like people will eventually get tired. She’s strung her fans out for so long the least she can do is say a month that it’s coming out for sure. The “soon” is for some reason starting to feel disrespectful.. Maybe that’s just me but not leaving any real hints or giving any real indication that music is coming is just not gonna work. It’s nearly been 4 years she’s been solo and she (nor have the other three girls) released an album. I honestly don’t know if it’s behind the scenes stuff going on or what but something needs to be done. If she thinks she’s going to release an album and then do this again for her second it’s not gonna work. I think she wants her debut album to be a top seller and to be a Grammy nominated album but if I can be honest she hasn’t released anything that’s Grammy worthy. I mean I still believe motivation was before it’s time but wild side wasn’t really all that… She just needs to communicate better with her fans and not keep them in the dark so much. ITS TIRING!!!

She's been in this industry for 10 years, solo for 5 and she is still not established. It's harder to get attention and fans as you get older and people in charge know that. They have all the stats, all the data. They can't just keep throwing money at her hoping she wields results, they're not gonna risk loosing it. Maybe if she was delivering what people want, but she is not. She is just not a good investment, sorry. Camila didn't get much money for promo for her first era either, her sponsorship paid for Havana MV. Her label invested a lot more into her 2nd era but she flopped, so she's not getting much for her 3rd era which will flop too, so she will get even less for her 4th era. That's how industry works. No label executive gives a crap about artists, they care about money and if you're not wielding results, you budget gets smaller. People say it's sabotage, but it's just business. Every time Normani's song flops, her budget gets smaller. She's been stalling for years, that's why it would've been great had she released an album right away. The ship for Normani has sailed, had she released an album back in 2018/2019, she would be on a good track, but it's too late now. There are newer artists coming up like Doja, Meghan, Chloe and Halle, Olivia Rodrigo, Billie, SZA blew up, a lot of new female rappers are coming up. The sad truth is, Normani wasted her opportunity. Also, people want a darkskin black popstar, that's clearly not what Normani wants, she dislikes Motivation and obviously prefers to make R&B. The problem is, charts are overflowing with R&B, it's the main genre right now so Normani making sexy R&B songs just makes her blend in, not stand out like she should. She brings nothing new.

Hot Take incoming: I think Normani's problem is she idolizes Beyonce. That isn't to be shady because who DOESN'T idolize Beyonce (and rightfully so). But you can see in how her career is being handled that either Normani, her team, or both are trying to follow in how Beyonce handles her career and fame now. The way Normani stays so private, how she doesn't really do interviews or performances. How she'll drop a song once a year and do a handful of little cameos. It's all a mirror reflection of how Beyonce handles her career now. Keyword: NOW. But once upon a time Beyonce was a new solo artist performing on any stage that would let her. LITERALLY doing the "uh oh oh-no-no" at festivals and galas. And BEFORE THAT Beyonce was in a little girl group called Destiny's Child, who were literally doing commercials for beauty supply stores. I don't mean to compare Black women, but it really DOES feel like Normani and her team are trying to parrot the elusiveness of current Beyonce...without paying the dues Beyonce paid to get to the level where she could do that. A young Beyonce (with her daddy MATTHEW!?) would have been booked on any stage with a spotlight. It's as you said, Normani is unique in that she DOES have everything it takes to be That Girl. And she has a fanbase HUNRGY for her to be That Girl. But...she's not That Girl yet.

There is definitely a lack of passion in many modern American artist because most of them enter the industry for that “get rich quick” lifestyle. When it comes to K-pop they have to have passion. Because they go through rigorous training to become stars. They actually WANT to do all that work for themselves. With The way the Industry is set up over there, It ain’t an easy cash grab for them. Lets just call it what it is, Chloe has come for and (if she drops an album first) has taken the very limited spot that the industry has for R&B girls. With Doja living in both the sing/rap world there is less space for a top selling black female artist. Normani is gonna be the Jessica simpson to Xtina Britney when it comes to Normani Doja and Chloe.

Her label/team has her out here looking like an indie/unsigned artist, she had to pay her own money for the WildSide video because "they" didnt believe in it. This is creeping into everything else she has coming up and is giving very Virgin Records/EMI early 2000's mixed with what happened to Kelly Rowland which is not good AT ALL.

I don’t really follow celebrities closely on social media or through interviews so I don’t know too much about Normani. But from what I have seen of her, she feels like a low key person. Like the kind of person who’s going to do what she wants to do when she wants to do it and if she’s not inspired or she doesn’t want to do it, she isn’t going to. That’s why I wonder if she even really wants to be the kind of artist that everyone seems to want her to be. Does she want to be worrying about what other artists are doing and pumping out music to keep up with them and the charts? Or does she just want to release music when she wants to release it? Does she want the job of being more visible and active as the “dark skinned inspiration” or does she just want to do her thing without that being really important to her career and brand? What would happen if she said she was happy with a low key niche career instead of a Beyoncé level career? I feel like if she actually did want people to know who she was as a person and an artist she’d be more active even while building her albums. But people seems to say she doesn’t engage much on social media or through interviews.

I've also gotten this vibe from her Solange, & willow smith I feel like they just want to do their own thing but people have been pressuring them to be like Beyonce or Rihanna because of 5th harmony people call her the Beyonce of the group & icons like Janet & Beyonce complimented her so she's under pressure lol😆

The thing is she doesn't have an indie vibe at all. She's not being spotted at music festivals, she's on IG posing in full glam and Fashion Nova. Her muic videos copy from Beyonce, Aaliyah and Janet not India Arie or even Janelle. Her chosen mentor is Kelly Rowland who herself wanted a mainstream career. Normani is just a self sabotager
