Those rear drops on the Dosnoventa are much nicer than the Cannndale track in my opinion and the undrilled rear bridge is also a step up. C Track bikes became popular during the hipster “takeover” when wealthy kids from the burbs began messengering in urban cities like NY, and Philly. Although Cannondale bikes in general were considered dependable, they were never the most sought after in the messenger world. Steel fixed bikes and specifically steel lugged track bikes were always perceived as what was best back during the early 2000’s when fixed gear riding began to explode. Just being able to find an actual track bike with rear horizontal drops became trendy and the frames that could be bought were usually vintage because that’s what was available and somewhat affordable. Camnondale and KHS were the only two aluminum frames that messengers might ride. The smooth welds and oversized tubing that Cannondale’s were known for made them appealing. However, KHS made an affordable bladed pursuit frame that was pretty cool as well.

After years and years on bike surrounding experience with cannons I think I broke it down. Those started getting famous cus its price and beauty. Handmade, the nice weld, but most importance was the reliability. The thick tube and colors made many want it. For me its the rear area and most in the track hanger. It has extra millimeters that make ppl more uncomfortable which is good tho. I have many cannons but I still keep riding my 2.8 because it's uncomfy, I hit hills and attack sprints like nothing. I would get a track but the price kills it. Thankfully I just got a modern wannabe, CAPO. But man I want a old one

In 1985, Brian Skinner made the MCR Descender rocker link bicycle. Kona made several renditions of it before trek even got started. Trek's first dual suspension bike was a single pivot 9000 back in 1992, 7 years after the first rocker pivot suspension bike. So honestly man, the trek session is just another copy in itself.

I don't like the older Cannondale bikes. They are VERY prone to cracking. My local Co-Op throws away almost everyone they get due to a crack. If you have one you're constantly paranoid about your bike breaking. Also the frame is so stiff. I had one that was a road bike that I turned into a fixed gear and every bump I could feel. It also ended up cracking.

Zach, you have been such an inspiration to me that I have figured out my version of what you ride. I first tried the track wheeled single speed built from a 1970's Fuji 27" sport frame. I soon learned that my beefy body does not do well on skinny tires. Now I ride a 1986 Bianchi Ocelot 1 spd with standard Weinman wheels and 26x1.75 inch tires, platform pedals with toe clips and narrow bars. Gotta have v brakes for the Sedona hills. The tube protectors are a must to keep away the goat's head thorns. Not exactly fixie but fixie inspired.

Ti was OK back in the day for marginal lightness, these days it has lost need for it and has become an object of desire. And dammit it if it's welded badly and cracks in a few years without any abuse, so many wannabe Ti frame builders today are on market.

@@shreddersaurusrex323 I'm not a bike engineer but to my knowledge tires around 40mm make harshest alu frame bike riding like on pillows. Any tire can be inflated slightly less and if rider's weight and roads aren't too horrible tire size doesn't have to be even 40mm or 1.5" But I don't mind if someone spends his money on more expensive frame, it's your money and your choice.

@Mottleydude12 жыл бұрын
Meh….for that price point I’d rather buy a Cinelli Or Bianchi Pista. I bought a 3.0 SR800 back in 89. Had Shimano 600 group set and a decent set of Wobler Wheel. Paid around $800 for it. Its major flaw was the derailed hanger wasn’t replaceable. I replaced the original toe strap pedals a set of Look clipless. I put on a pair of bolt on aero bars. It weighed 21# which wasn’t bad for the day. I used it mainly for crits and time trialing. At that time I also had a Columbus SL frame with a 105 group set. Both had indexed down tube shifters. The SL tube bike was the one I rode most of the time and it weighed 23#. Five years later technology had passed them both by so I gave the steel bike to my cousin, kept the 3.0 and bought a Schwinn Paramount with ultegra STI. I relegated the 3.0 to bad weather rides. I then got my USCF License and started racing and topped out at Cat 3. I never won a race at Cat 5 or 4 but was promoted twice as I regularly finished in the top five. Quite a few of those were because I was the lead out man for our clubs best sprinter. Then I was promoted to Cat 3 and could hang but was your basic cat fodder. Then on one windy wet cold day I used my 3.0 on a 50 mile Cat 3 race. The race was outside of Little Rock and I’m from Ohio and wasn’t pretty used to riding in that kind of crappy weather so that was probably my big advantage. I caught a break away early and rode off the front never to see the main pack again. One by one I rode my break away partners off my wheel and ended up wining by about 5 minutes. That was my only win as a USCF racer so I will always have a fond spot in my heart for that Cannondale 3.0.

Dolan is a beauty but the ugly part i see is that it belongs in the pista. I only wouldn't ride a cannon Why is a strap pedal dangerous?

@@KVNSEYY because,if you have to stop suddenly,or any kind of, sudden situation,where you don't manage to pull your shoes quickly enough,you can fall and hurt yourself (it happened to me,it was one time,but I seriously hurt my hand and a leg, because my left leg stuck in the strap) ! The same can happen with the spd pedals! No straps and no spd! My leg needs to be removed from the pedals instantly! Wide bmx pedals are the best!
