Make Cutter let you cancel the downwards part like Cloud Up B, make Hammer be able to spin in the air again but this time but make it a multihitting combo tool, make Inhale into a Hypernova if held down hard enough and long enough, and make Rock spike off stage and break shields on stage. Longshot but if Cutter was aimable in multiple directions instead of just upwards that would be cool.

He’s good in Brawl. But Brawl is Brawl. I always thought he was okay in Smash 4. Towards the end there’s some people ranking him in bottom tier but that’s pushing it. In Ultimate I think he’s pretty solid. So there you go.

Kirby to this day is still the most nerfed character between Smash games. Not even Brawl Meta Knight or Smash 4 Bayonetta got nerfed as hard in Smash 4 and Ultimate respectively as Kirby did from 64 to Melee.

@@Fantasticbrownie99 When comparing both Brawl and Ultimate, Brawl had about half of the roster ranked higher than Kirby, who's ranked 20 out of 38 in the Mid-Tier. Meanwhile, the majority of the roster is ranked higher than Kirby, who is currently ranked 75 out of 82 in the Low Tier in Ultimate's second Tier List. Yes, Kirby is more viable in Ultimate, but he still has his flaws since Melee such as terrible air speed

Honest Content in Remix Kirby fell again. He went from 2 to currently 5th place. The remix characters have great match ups against him Yoshi got better because of more dominant matches But Kirby can get a taste of his own medicine with some characters

I don't think the japanese devs really understood the brokenness of pika in smash 64 as the meta really wasn't developed at that point. like falcon and fox both remained good. it feels like saying the nerfs that yoshi has from 64-melee have are because they realized the top tier potential when early on most would see yoshi as a very troublesome character to pilot

Not even. Sakurai and the rest of the dev team wasn't even aware the game was being played competitively at all or was aware of the competitive scene of smash until melee's lifespan was at an end when brawl was announced, where he mentions in an interview he meant for melee to be played as a party game and he felt melee's faster pace alienated casual players hence why he slowed it down in brawl. The engine change nerfed and buffed characters, not just kirby. The whole kirby nerf thing was just a rumor set up, especially since pikachu stands as top tier compared to kirby, and there is no actual interview where Sakurai expressed he nerfed kirby's moveset from the transition. Sakurai knew he what he was doing. To say he had no clue is just laughably wrong and a horrid lack of understanding of crunch time and culture in the game development stage and disingenuous. Smash was never meant to be played competitively at all. He wasn't even aware of it until brawl was released in 2010

He was busted in N64 and deserved to be nerfed. But the rumor of Sakurai intentionally nerfing him is just false, since Pikachu stood at top. It was the engine changes that made Kirby the way he was in N64, and the fact Sakurai never intentionally made the game to be played competitively at all
