Jacoby has a great outlook on this, it's honouring Chester. Letting his work die and the love that his fans had for hearing the songs he performed live, even with another vocalist standing in for him, would be a disservice to the message he wanted to get out into the world through his lyrics. I was fortunate enough to see Linkin Park at their London show on this tour, it was incredible and extremely respectful, Emily smashed it and hearing Mike sing some of Chester's parts (especially in Leave out all the rest) was emotional, he did a great job, Mike is carrying the torch for Chester, Emily is helping the crowd to get involved while doing a phenomenal job on all of their songs new and old too. Linkin Park are alive and so is the memory of Chester and it's amazing to witness in real time.

That's my stance too. A lot of people wish they had dropped the name "Linkin Park" and didn't play the older LP songs because it's not the same without Chester. And while I agree it's not the same without Chester, Linkin Park's, among many other things, Chester's legacy, it's what he left behind for us. IMO, everytime we get play and sing his songs, especially with other people, we are honoring him, we are keeping his memory alive.

But that’s why it hurts but in a good way. It pains our heart because SHE reminds us of Chesters style. It’s so difficult to get someone to cover Chesters singing. It was way too high to try and copy. Only a woman could try and hit the octaves. But not only that, they found a woman that screams well too. They found their gem to move on. If I were Chester, I’d want them to move on too. That was just the kind of guy he was.

@@solarydays You think technique will completely change a voice to precisely mimic a person? By that logic Chester could have been coached to perform a Barry White tune because "technique" would give him that low range, timbre and resonance? Suffice to say you have no idea what you're talk about and signaling your toxicity. I'll say there's a few spots in the old songs live where her voice outshine Chester, her performance lifts Mike's voice in a new way and their harmonies sit in a whole new space within the music.

I've been a huge fan of both of these bands for years! Meteora was the first album I ever bought, and a Papa Roach song is a huge part of my marriage. Hearing this, as a fan, means so much to the audience at large. But, and I need to get this off my chest, I think there's a correlation between Heavy Is The Crown (and Emily's sustained scream) and Chester's legacy. Her crown is heavy, passed to her by legends, and as a fan of those same legends, carrying that crown is hard. Chester is the reason she learned to scream, she's been an LP fan most of her life and she never wanted to replace Chester, she wants to honour him. With all the weight the fans put on it, on her, this is what we asked for.

I think Jacoby touches a bit on the dilema some fans are going through right now. The new songs are bangers so good, and performed so well, but the whole time you hear them you are painfully reminded of what could have been if Chester was still with us. You are caught in the moment of what Linkin Park would have become if he hadn't left us. That dilema is really hard, because one hand the new songs are great, but Emily won't ever be Chester and we won't ever get the chance to hear Linkin Park with him ever again and that is so crushing at times. But the flipside, that Jacoby also mentions is that there are still people in this world who need Linkin Park, the same way the band kept many of us going through hard times, there are those in dark places who can be alleviated by the music and will now get the chance to heal through hearing these songs performed once again. For me personally I really like NEW ERA linkin park's songs, but truthfully I have no desire to see them live and play the old songs that they made with Chester. It's nothing to do with Emily, but in those live shows I know I personally we be too devastated with the constant flooding of heartache that Chester is gone. I wouldn't be able to enjoy the music with the unrelenting feeling that Chester isn't here to sing his songs anymore and that it would be too painful to hear Emily sing those songs. But that's just me, there are a lot of fans who feel different and are ready to experience Linkin Park again in a slightly different way. I am glad the band is moving forward, but it will always bring thoughts of what could have been.

Mike said that we are doing Chester part. I think this series of shows are just to reintroduce Linkin Park and to give the fans a chance to honour Chester by singing his parts. Dude, I understand. Chester was the kind of singer that just solidifies himself within the band, so much so, that his voice is like the very identity of the band.
@SINGHDASLAYAАй бұрын
The problem people have with the new LP singer isn't just that Chester isn't there, it's the fact the the person filling his place is everything he stood against. Her ability aside, the fact that nobody in the band is even giving a hint on her past and acknowledging the Scientology part of it especially is very damning. I love LP and will continue to listen to them because of my love for the original 6 but this situation is as much a mockery if not worse than the One More Light album problems.
@gk8257Ай бұрын
I wouldn't say emily is everything he stood against tbh. She was born into scientology and is openly LGBTQ. And denouncing scientology might prove harmful to her life. If anything, we know she is also a victim of abuse and knows pain like Chester did.

Wild how you're trying to speak for the dead of someone you likely never met or spent more than half hour with. And if you're going by Chesters son not liking Emily, his son of course is there for Chesters legacy to be maintained. But LP is more than just Chester. Why let a legendary music writer stop doing what he's doing when he wants to continue? Mike has a vision for Emily and LP and I want to see it fulfilled and will support them til I see it. Then make a new decision from there.
@SINGHDASLAYA26 күн бұрын
@jessechristensen1074 you clearly don't understand what I am saying. I am very glad that LP are continuing on and why they made most of the decisions they did. My issue is that if all the things that came out against Emily did cone out against a guy then he would be toast. The ignoring of the Scientology situation is a big issue that the band nor Emily have even given an indication towards. The whole "afraid because of what they can do" situation is minor considering her parents are prevalent. She could have even said something like "if you want to know what I'm all about then go listen to my dead Sara stuff" etc. The whole ignore and pretend everything is 100% fantastic with everything is exactly what got LP the giant backlash with Chester's last album. I respected when on the build up to the release of Amo album from BMTH he came out and gave indication to the fans about the album's direction. A statement even if it's broad by LP would at least put to rest most of the aggravation. All we have for the most part is people close to the situation coming out and addressing a single side which does paint an alarming picture instead of one that's understanding to all parties.
