I think there is a minimum attractiveness level that you have to be as a man to get any swipes, like at least a 5-6 out of 10, and if you are not at that minimum threshold, nothing will happen, and I suspect there is a 40 % or so of profiles that get 0 action, but without much better stats on the apps, there is no way to know.

Social media and online has ment people have crazy high standards and because they think they can access so many people they don't stick hard times out and just leave. We live in a time of instant gratification and it's translated to dating. This along with poor standards of living and rising costs makes it harder to start families. The rise of radical feminism and divorce laws favouring women has led to lots of si gle mums raising damaged kids which also makes forming reltionships way harder. We need to bring focus back to the family and supporting and promoting it at all levels of soicity instead of activily destroying it.
@butter9713
@butter9713 23 күн бұрын
@@IIZCHAOS I agreed wit everything until you brought out single mums. Isn't it great to be able to leave an unhappy marriage? Imagine staying with someone you hate for the rest of your life just because ten years ago you thought they were the right one. Like feminism isn't the big evil behind divorce rates or single mums, nowadays, even though it's changing, women are expected to run all the housechores while having a job of their own. Who would want that? Even before divorce was legal women used to kill their husband to get away from them. I'm saying that there are many reasons to divorce (cheating, domestic abuse, disinterest, etc) and that it is a long and tiring process with the legal fees and all the paperwork you have to do. You don't think women divorce left and right just because tiktok told them to do you? Or that women are the only ones to want a divorce. As in the damaged children, well, it takes a village to raise a child and we shouldn't just a expect a new mother to be able to take care of everything. I don't think divorce is to blame for it but rather the lack of community. If everyone gets caught up in their own mess they won't be able to see their neighbor upstairs who is struggling with a baby on her own, and just complain about the noises they make. Too much indivualism with a lonely society

Back before the apps dating websites were designed around actually matching people up with each other because if it was successful, they'd get more clients and hence more money. But now the business is in selling people the idea of getting matches but never really giving it to them. These companies absolutely have the data on us and could easily create an algorithm that could present us with the most compatible partners but what's the point if people are willing to pay obscene amounts of money to keep getting rejected. Feels a lot more like gambling at this point than actual matchmaking.

The ideal situation for the apps is to set you up with someone that you will date for a few months but ultimately it won't work out. That's why they like to show people that are 100 or more miles away. They know that's close enough for you to start dating but when there are issues in the relationship you will get tired of driving that far to see each other. Before the pandemic I had several 3 month- 1 year relationships off the websites, and never paid for a subscription. Then I got into a 3 year relationship from the websites. Now I'm trying it again and have almost no conversations and zero dates. It's changed and broken since Covid. I don't see the apps and websites having a future if nobody will even meet in person or get into even a short term relationship. It's like gambling- you have to win something to get addicted. I'm not convinced that paying will do anything to change the situation.

I think it was cool. I don't really see any flaws there, it is time wasting in my opinion, but you can be lucky and meet someone perfect. I just always flirted and set up a date within the first or third line. It was foolproof and fun. Never had sex nor kissed, they wanted but I did not like in person anyone. The ability to essentially design your perfect match has caused people to not understand how to make compromises. You might be able to check a box that says "pet friendly" on your profile, but it might be there's someone out there more compatible for you who doesn't like pets but because they love you, might be willing to tolerate having pets just because they make you happy. We've gotten so individualized that our wants and desires come before the good for a whole unit, such as a family, and we can't compromise anymore because we can just tell a computer what we're looking for in a mate and refuse to settle for someone who doesn't check all of our boxes.
@lonestarr1490
@lonestarr1490 Ай бұрын
It goes even further than that, because it's not just in the profile but also in how we filter out the offers. Many women get so many likes on these apps that some sort of sieving algorithm becomes necessary just to handle the sheer amount. Hence, aspects that are virtually on no one's priority list suddenly become important. Every little flaw can get you dismissed, just because they have to dismiss so many. It basically degenerated into the very same process you go through when applying for a job.

Yes, although I think it goes beyond people not compromising, but rather the app pushing you to not compromise. I feel like dating apps push you to be a worse more shallow person. If you were to try to establish a real connection with everyone you come across then you would quickly burn out. So the only option is seemingly to be shallow. This is true for men and not just women. On hinge you have the option to write a meaningful or thought full response to something someone had on their profile or to just swipe no because one of their numbers was a little off. It just made sense to save my effort for the profile with the better meaningless numbers.

So I used tinder when it first came out, the daily swipe limit was much more generous (I'm not even sure there was a cap?), there were barely any bots, no ads, and you could realistically get decent likes/matches as a man if you were at least slightly above average. I think I averaged between 2-5 matches a week at the time, and 1-2 of those would lead to a date. I just reinstalled it a few days ago to try to find dates on my winter vacation day one I got 8 likes, of those likes 5 led to matches, of those 5, 3 were bot/romance scammer accounts and 2 have not replied to a message. Day 2 I only got 2 likes neither of whom I was attracted to, day 3-5 none. I made the mistake of buying a tinder gold sub to use passport mode to set my location to my vacation destination, which after further reading realized was the one intended for women, and that men are supposed to get platinum. But one thing I noticed on day 2 is that Tinder ELO is definitely a very real thing, the women I see at the start of a swiping session are mostly attractive and I have a like rate of somewhere between 20-50%, then matches degrade slowly, and the last 100-200 before you run out of people to swipe on are all either fat, black or fat and black. (sorry black ladies, but if the old OK-cupid data is anything to go off of they have the worst rates for receiving messages/likes/matches) Tinder's ELO ranking for who shows up at the top of the stack goes: Actively using a boost -> Platinum (for women you liked only)-> gold/boost/free (liked profiles) -> platinum/gold/boost/free (no like), with each tier having its own ELO breakdown most attractive/most liked at the top and least attractive/liked at the bottom. If you are a man with middling tinder ELO or lower and are not actively using a boost or platinum you won't show up in the stacks for any women using tinder free before they run out of daily likes, making your already shit odds of matching just that much worse. I'm not positive on this, but i believe women get 50-100 free likes a day, and men get 25-50, if you are in a major metro area there are simply too many men you are competing with who are either boosting or using platinum. To make these plans viable tinder basically just removed the functionality from the app and breadcrumbed it back in, the only thing that has never been a free feature was the ability to see who liked you.

If you really sit down and analyze society across nearly every situation it mirrors this taking advantage of men. Taxes? Men pay more, women collect more benefits. Car Insurance? Men pay more, women cost more. Health insurance? In collective agreements everyone pays the same, women use far more so transfers resources from men to women. Basically, men are treated like work oxen for "society" (which is basically just women's needs) and if the men don't produce they are tossed aside.

The more you swipe right. The more the algorithm will screw you. Because the algorithm measures "Desperation". The higher the ratio of your right swipes to left swipes the less friendly the algorithm is to pushing you. To get the algorithm in your favor you want to swipe left at least 10 times for every right swipe. Because the algorithm will think you are "Picky" and people are only "Picky" when they "Have a lot of options" and if you show yourself as having a lot of options then they value you higher.

can personally state I swipe right very rarely on all of them because quality is all I'm concerned with and specifically quality of personality shown on the profile. I wish I could say my behavior caused the algorithm to try and "win me over" in some way by me being pickier but it doesn't seem that way. I also wish others created their profiles with the same intention that I do but I don't think my experience has been all that different from the average user's experience regardless of my approach. As a certified woman™, and this is just my own personal mindset, so don't take it as me speaking for all women... I literally could not care less about a man's height. Or well, that's not entirely true. I find very large, "hyper masculine" men intimidating, and not in a good way, but in a - "they make me feel unsafe" kind of way. It's no fault of theirs. They can't help the fact that they're massive any more than you can help your height. And if they have an extremely sweet and soft personality to go along with that tall and burly statuere, maybe I'd feel less intimidated. But overall my personal preference is someone who is my own height, shorter or just a little bit taller. Or if they're very tall, I prefer them to be slender over burly and muscular. So no, not all women desire a tall man. My mom is taller than my dad and it has never been an issue. Though yeah, good on you for getting off the dating apps. They really aren't very good. I've tried them myself and it never leads anywhere. Also always feels very forced and shallow.

Tbh, strangely enough, I’ve had the most interactions and friendships made by using FB dating. It’s free, there’s no limitations, and there’s a friendship option to avoid the incentive to force awkward dialogue. It’s pretty neat!

I've deleted Tinder 3 times in the past 7 years & am done with scummy dating apps. But how do I meet girls in person when I live in the Houston countryside? Theres no 3rd places here & everything is so freaking spread out I HAVE to have a car. Everyone's old af so there's very few girls under 40 to be seen. Any activities outside of driving, shopping, dining & auto repairs are completely alien to us so don't bring up anything to do with meetups or clubs. And I'm far too poor to move out of my parents house.

These apps are literally evil. From what you said, with your data, ELO score ,as well as their database, they can easily just match you with people who share maximum common values. But instead of using their model to introduce you to your true love, the App extorts both men and women's data Disney villain style for "extra attempts" to finally access each other.

@@OGHumorBot It is definitely the military unit spawning sound in AOE2, but I don't doubt you that it was also used in Runescape--it's likely a stock sound. For example... the kobold death sound from Warcraft 3 is also used in the movie Nacho Libre. The same handful of bear noises are used across many games too lol.

The reason you aren't able to get a consistent price across users is due to how dating apps price "dynamically" aka based on "user attributes". The worst example of this was Tinder who used to just outright charge people who were over 30 years old DOUBLE what they charged other users. My guess is now days they use seasonal and user attributes, e.g. when people are more lonely (winter) they charge more, users on iPhones get charged more due to potentially having more money.

Being pay-walled from love sucks. Been single over a decade and stopped trying after that point. I accept the things I cannot change and focus on the things I can. Maybe someday a single lady will exist who wants to chat and we get to know each other over time. But I'm not actively seeking that, it's more of something that'll just happen to cross my path in life if it ever does.

I remember when I had hope for the apps. I'm an introvert with no connections, so I hoped that the internet would connect me to something genuine. I've been through most of them, and in total I think i've had maybe 4 conversations over the years. It may be bias, as I have little money, I'm not attractive and I'm not a "Man's Man," but I still feel like they've done more harm than good. They took what was a guy searching hopefully for a lady that cared about heart over wallets & looks, then told me that my lack of such meant I was pathetic and that literally no good woman would ever want me. It was so demoralizing that to this day I don't have hope that I'll ever find a soulmate to share my whole life with. I've been too late getting off the ground, so I've missed the train for the American Dream. That's all that dating apps did for me.

It's anecdotal but I absolutely had an easier time finding dates when I paid more for tinder premium. I had more exposure, got a wider variety of types of people, and got over a HUNDRED messages in one night. And I'm not, like, humble bragging or whatever, cause when I didn't pay for premium I didn't get a single hit in a few days.
