A necessary action by the Sahelian states, bad moment for ECOWAS. I have always maintained that they should be limited to economic cooperation only, and stay out of state leadership. They can advocate, lobby but merging their role with fighting is wrong even for insurgency. A separate body out of ECOWAS should have been formed.
