*To the people who still get the safemode screen after update:* I had the same issue, what worked for me was I turned off my PS4 and the held the ON button for 2 beeps then in the safe mode menu I chose "5. Rebuild Database". 2 minutes later my PS4 was on and working again! :) (note: before I tried that, I took out the HDD Harddrive and blew a little air on the connectors and put it back in, that could have been the solution too, im not sure, try both, HDD comes out easily.

Yo I highly recommend this guy. Made it so easy. So my brother is the actual owner of the PS4 and since I'm a computer *sabie he assumed I would be able to figure this out with no gaming experience lol. I had gone to the PS website simply to download the latest software and saved it on a flashdrive and gave it to him. He came back with the PS4, cords, and flashdrive for me to figure it out. I tried on my own and was like WTH can be so complicated with this. Well it was frustrating more than anything until I came across this video and had me literally doing checking off a list of possible things that were the problem. I literally started off with a random controller cable and that was my first issue until my alexa cord work since brother didn't provide the right cable. This took me about 20 to 30 min right before work and I even had a moment to write this down. Thanks so much!

I made my ps4 re-enact Humpty Dumpty so here we are. Went through all the options. Pulled out a usb I haven't seen in years. No dice. Execute Safe Mode option #6. Save files o7. Thanks for the guide my ps4 is no longer a paper weight.

After you do option 6 or 7 go to your applications or whatever game you lost your stuff on and press the options button on the controller; then you go to upload saved data and upload to system storage.(you can also do this in settings)
