A bench comprising Justice BV Nagarathna and Justice Augustine George Masih ruled that divorced Muslim women can file a petition under Section 125 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) as well as the Muslim Women (Protection on Divorce Act) 1986 to demand maintenance from their husbands. Muslims should treat this as an isolated case and not protest against the judgement. The protests have only exacerbated the problems faced by Muslims and inadvertently aided their rivals. Muslims are free to adhere to Islamic laws in their personal matters (99.99% doing so). Those who choose not to follow Islamic laws have the option to seek resolution through the courts. In such cases, both parties should respect the rulings of the judiciary. Importantly, accepting the verdict will prevents political parties from exploiting the situation.

Was it not greate when court had to intervene and gave verdict in favour of Shah Banu. Where was sareshwala and his Quran then ?
