It appears that ZAGG quality isn't what they used to be... it is sad that manufactures start out with a great product and they got greedy and rolled back on quality somehow. Great review!
@29thMidget4 жыл бұрын
I'm going with the "maybe." It's because of those inconsistencies I feel the product should be placed in the mid-tier. But that's just me. After you try the same tests again, if you do decide to do it, and if the inconsistencies persist, then the mid-tier is already there where it was placed. But if it does better, then bumping it up to top-tier could bring forth better review, coverage & press, and sales. P.S. I'm curious if you'll do a review of the glass camera protectors from Rhinoshield for iPhone 11/Pro/Max? Those Zagg one's you used don't look great. So far I'm pretty impressed with the purchase from Rhinoshield. They haven't fallen off yet and they compliment the look of the iPhone with the anodized aluminum trims, so that's a bonus!

Agreed. And yes, I will be reviewing the stupid little camera covers. I've got the Rhino ones and the Spigen one's.

Been using Zagg for years and never dropped a phone but it's still the only brand I trust. Recently Glass Elite saved my phone from a very hard fall when my roll cart tipped over and all the tools, and my iPhone 11 Pro, spilled all over the floor. Had to replace the screen protector, but not the expensive device.

Here’s a tip for getting a perfect dust-free application: Go into your washroom and run she shower (without the fan on) for a while, then install the screen protector in that washroom. The moisture makes most of the dust fall to the ground, so you shouldn’t get any dust on your screen during application. I’ve used the trick a few times and from my experience it makes a world of difference. Keep up the great content!
@DefinitelyNotMyRealName4 жыл бұрын
That's how I do it. Perfect application every time.

I’m using the Zagg Elite on my XS Max and I like it a lot. One thing that I’ve noticed from Zagg products (and Belkin too, the InvisiGlass) is that their screen protectors tend to have the best clarity. Everything looks razor sharp and the blacks of the OLED screen still look very very dark, nearly matching the black bezels of the phone. Also, the fingerprint smearing becomes less obtrusive vs cheaper brands. On most cheaper brands, the screen looks kind of “hazy”, washed out and the text, images, videos, etc don’t look as “sharp” or “vivid” as the bare screen. I’ve worn glasses all my life so I am very peculiar about clarity lol. I don’t know why that is or if it’s something to do with the quality of the adhesive but it’s very obvious to me. I’ve tried Spigen (their old non-EZ Tray were clearer), a plethora of eBay and Amazon protectors, case manufacture protectors, etc. Most of them are hazy and cheap looking/feeling. I wish there was a way to test clarity accurately other than by the naked eye.

Thanks for the comment.
@someusername1213 жыл бұрын
@@MobileReviewsEh you should add a haze test. Use a small white dot with black background on max brightness and take a picture of the screen to measure the halo. Like the first dude said it’s noticeable on some screen protectors.

Got the elite for the iPhone 11. I've been using zagg invisible shield glass screen protectors for years for only one reason - to prevent scratches. Those scratches and micro scratches are really annoying on the iPhone's glass. The application process is super easy, almost foolproof, and they look good. I don't drop phones though.

I agree I’ve always used either Zagg or Spigen and they’ve lasted extremely long times. Granted I’ve had the same glass on my 6sPlus since the original release date and ya my daily driver but I pay notion to cases with raised front edges to give it that extra window of safety if/when falling face down.
@KevInPA844 жыл бұрын
MobileReviewsEh did you ever go through with the replacement glass? How was your process of so? I actually had mine replaced in a Zagg kiosk at a mall pretty much no questions asked. (I’m talking near end of life for my iPhone 5 & Preorder of 6sPlus days... I’m not sure those kiosks still exist now days)

If you want to do realistic testing. You can only do one drop on each screen protector. So to test the strength in 4 places. You’ll need 4 screen protectors. Otherwise your tests are flawed.

You should be testing it while it’s on the phone. Not by itself. This doesn’t tell us anything. The point of a screen protector is to PROTECT THE SCREEN. I’ve had my screen protectors break but when I take it off, my screen is in perfect condition. I Shouldn’t even have to explain this smh.

The ONLY way to install screen protectors is in the bathroom. Turn on the hot water in shower, steam it up, keep door closed. All dust will stick to steam and fall to surfaces. Sneak into bathroom, Turn off water, wait a few minutes. Then take phone out of pocket and begin your install, wiping etc. NO DUST, its amazing. I've done this numerous times. It works!

I think if the glass is inconsistent in its breaking point you would have to go with the weakest score (80ish?) which is the worst case scenario. If it was really quality you would anticipate it to be consistently in the 100’s. I don’t know just my take. 🤷🏻♂️ Interesting comment about the adhesive!

Yup! I think the structural rigidity of the screen protector was compromised from all those hits. You can’t beat physics. A better test would be to start each test with a new screen protector but that would add up to too much money!

The rigidity may be compromised but with enough tests, a trend would come out. Corners would start breaking at around the same point.
