The new dog was actually going to be our grand-dog which we will have at our house a lot. So, the tips in this book were just what i needed. Also, love the lucky dog show on the weekends.

Reward generously when introducing new commands, maybe have play breaks and don’t over wealm them with words you can wait to introduce words with commands until they are familiar with it. Just got my Cavalier pup today so I'm loving this vid! She is 2 months old and I live in a flat so had to introduce crate, leash and potty training outside all in one day. Thankfully the street in front of my flat is not too busy but hopefully all this new stuff isn't overwhelming for my beauty!

Ik I'm late hope he/she didn't die but quick tip: they might not want food they want toys they are play full dogs and need attention try tug of war as currency when training.

When I play tug with my dogs I'm teaching them to 'out' the tug, impulse control, the difference between conflict and cooperation (tug should be a game, not a battle), bite the tug not my hands, bringing the tug back for more play when the dog 'wins' and to motivate and reinforce any obedience I throw into the mix. I also use tug to build lots of drive. I think you can tell, I LOVE playing tug with dogs and use it ALL THE TIME in my training sessions.

some of the info is spot on. fetch really was. you don't want to "Require" the dog to drop / let go of the item in early-training for fetch, this actually discourages/motivates the dog to NOT return to you, cause they know as soon as they come back to you, you'll take their toy rather than play with them, and they'll have to run after it again. the joy should be BECAUSE they bring it back to you. so glad you added that

I will be getting a German Shepherd pup on June 1st and for the last 7 months I've watched quite a few dog training videos but yours, Zak, are by far the best. I like how you train and still have fun with the dogs at the same time and you don't over train a dog so much he ends up like a robot. Believe me, I've seen that done. I have a King Charles Spaniel. Her name is Summer, and she does a lot of play bitting but I know whenever she bites I have to take her attention to the toy and not whatever she is biting on. We are having a hard time teaching her to stay but I am sure she'll get it! She's is only a couple months, she learns fast we already taught her to sit and potty trained her already she is super good at that and she is only two months old!! I'm so proud of her! I want to teach her to lay down, roll around, and shake maybe more but I also know not to overwhelm her with all the different words or else I might confuse her. Anyway I love your videos and they help me a lot! Thank you!!

This videos is amazing because I'm getting a cavapoo later (it's 4:47 and I can't sleep which is why I say later because it's later today at 9:45-10:30 and we got the last puppy from the litter !! Oh and It's only 10 weeks - 11 weeks old so it's a really young puppy) which is a cross breed if a cavalier King Charles spaniel and a poodle so considering this breed is one of the parents so I now have a huge idea of what to do ! Thank you and we will be sure to buy your book later :)
