The famous televangelist Dr Zakir Naik has been invited to Pakistan as a State guest on an official tour of the country by the government of Pakistan. Whilst many people lauded this decision, his tour turned into a controversial one after his recent statement regarding many sociopolitical issues of Pakistan. He also criticised the national airline for charging him custom fees for extra luggage.

Im an Indian Hindu and have been to Saudi Arabia multiple times for work. This Zakir Naik will have a heart attack when he finds out that even in Saudi Arabia women are working alongside men. Its definitely not too liberal, but its happening. And in some cases, women even offer hand shakes to me (all men do, but its different with different women when greeting). And most of them dont have niqab in office. Hijab is almost 100%.

The most astonishing thing for me was your admission, Muzammil, that you liked him and followed his discourses closely when you were young or in college. You even admit that you have shared Naik's discourses with your acquaintances and friends, leaving no doubt of the influence he has had over you. No one in his right mind would even consider him as a preacher, since he appears to be bereft of any knowledge of any kind. You should have at least made it clear if you are still a follower of Naik in spite of all the turmoil he has created in the few days he has been in Pakistan. Alternatively, it might be a good idea for Pakistan to adopt Naik and give him permanent residency.
