I just bought one of these for my small 2 story house. My demarc is downstairs where my network cabinet is with 10 network lines I’ve pulled. So I’m thinking I’ll likely need a mesh device upstairs…what do you recommend for the WiFi 7 compatibility? I am open to a ceiling mounted AP or a sit-on-desk spider router or a simple WiFi extender…I just want to make sure it plays nice w this router. I have a WiFi sprinkler controller in detached garage so I just want good coverage. Not necessarily super concerned w fast speeds but I’m going WiFi 7 to somewhat “future-proof “ house for the next few years etc

Every time I go to the store, it's almost nothing but TP-Link products these days. A lot of people on Reddit don't like TP-Link and accuse them of stealing intellectual property from other companies. The other big alternative at the moment seems to be Asus but I've never had much luck with their network products and find them to be unstable and unreliable requiring frequent reboots etc.

I have a maybe niche question about this and Wifi 7 in general. On previous generations, I've always separated out my bands by SSID, so I could connect to the faster 5GHz band as whenever I noticed a device slowing down connectivity wise I had found it had hopped to the 2.4GHz band, and that always fixed it for me. I know Wifi 7 combines 3 bands and communicates over all at once, but that's only for Wifi 7 devices obviously. What about older AC or AX devices? Will I no longer be able to separate bands for them and have to rely on (imo unreliable) band steering?
@UltimateTechHub
@UltimateTechHub Ай бұрын
You can separate all 3 bands if you want. I recommend combining the 2.5 and 5Ghz bands for faster speeds ( Smart Connect ). Older devices will connect to the 2.4 or 5Ghz bands. Also enable the IoT network on the 2.4Ghz only for some IoT devices that only use 2.4Ghz. Hope this helps.

I don't get something. Someone please help me understand. I have an older WiFI 6 router (Archer AX10) and I'm getting nearly double the WiFi speeds, 20 feet from the router (800 Mbps+) than this newer, fancier router, and I also have a 1 Gbps connection. Why??
@UltimateTechHub
@UltimateTechHub Ай бұрын
It depends on different factors like interference, the devices your connecting to and the band or bands your connecting to. If your getting 800 Mbps your on the 5Ghz band and thats some solid speeds. I've tested this router again a few different times and achieved around 800 Mbps on the 5Ghz band and 920 Mbps when using the smart connect which combines the 2.4 and 5Ghz bands. If your using smart connect then that's exactly why your getting 800 Mbps. Thanks for watching and check out this archer router! kzbin.info/www/bejne/gZebY62rf5aNmpo

@@UltimateTechHub Thank you so much for the video and useful information you provided. I just ordered this router model, but in some of the KZbin videos, mostly from Chinese KZbinrs, I saw that they couldn't connect to the 6 GHz channel with devices that had Wi-Fi 6E. @alisarani8971 China hasn't authorized the 6 GHz band for Wi-Fi; I understand they use it for 5G mobile instead. That's why your Chinese KZbinrs can't access 6 GHz on Wi-Fi 6E devices, as 6E by definition includes 6 GHz; without the extra band it's just Wi-Fi 6. They won't be able to use 6 GHz on Wi-Fi 7 either; there are some Wi-Fi 7 routers specific to China that offer its improved encoding at 2.4 & 5 GHz, but don't have 6 GHz.

Subscription is a free money to all these companies. They will milk and dime every single penny from consumers and stupid consumers sometimes go blindly paying for something that should have been default included to begin with. This is main reason I am switching all my networking gears to Unifi product. They are certainly bit more expensive but you don't get any of these subscriptions nonsense once you buy the hardware.

Right now neither for me personally, unless I uad zero other options like my current router dying, but even then I got some older equipment that I could make work. I really wish pfsense had vetter wireless support because its a MUCH better router/firewall solution, even if its overkill for most people. It just doesn't support mesh, just wireless APs with different ssids If I had no oither option then I would look into WiFi 7. The abulity to combine all the frequencies to get the fastest speeds is just an awesome addition, but mostly for LAN reasons. With that said, it wouldn't be to link and thats pricey and 8ts the cheapest option. I would try to hold off a year because I wouldn't want to have to uograde in say, 2 years because local data transfers will (or should) be faster with a device that has WiFi 7 capabilitie WITH the eight router. . That would have been the better test IMO although the Asus would probably still win because no actual WiFi 7 end devices to really test if the difference is substantial or not. One thing is for sure, a lot more research would have to be done if I had no other option. Qirhout dojng that uts hard to say with 100 percent certainty but thats the main WiFi 7 feature I'm looking forward ro. 2.4ghz has great range bit the slowest speeds. 5ghz doesn't have great coverage and was kimited in what channels you could use due to other devices like land kine phones. I haven't personally seen 6ghz in action. Im sure its great, until everyone has it. At least you have more channel options though.

I was experiencing latency - buffering issues with my ISP router. Unless I relocated or had a new install, alternately upgrading wasn't an option without an incremental speed or package contract upgrade. I did homework and went for the TP Link Archer based on the price and comparable review cost vs Asus etc. I was happy to have a WiFi 7 spec router with a savings compared to WiFi 6 gaming router cost. I may not have WiFi 7 but the specs were a bonus even in use for WiFi6, the connectivity issues for different speed security camera's aren't an issue, I no longer have the buffering issues and my Roku UHD devices are clearly delivering astounding images. Separately my 8K TV images are noticeably incomparable to previous. My computer downloads are now lightening fast and with 3 monitors operating with no conflict or buffering on different images I consider myself future proof compared to the alternatives.

So i guess i should ask does the be9300 support all the wifi standards 4,5,6,6e and 7 or is 6e excluded? I think that seems not clear on wifi 7 in general and wpuld be beneficial for consumers to know in general, if indeed it does support it then companies should say that it supports all previous standards.

I'm sorry, you tested its WiFi 7 performance with WiFi 6E devices and are disappointed with its performance on 6 GHz? Besides the devices you name in your comment below, there are multiple BE9300 adapters on the market which (theoretically) would let a PC achieve 5.7Gbps, that would be an actual test of its WiFi 7 speed. Also, it looks like you tested the 2.5Gbps Ethernet ports against your 1Gbps internet line and found that they achieved somewhat near 1Gbps. Did you test between two 2.5Gbit PCs using like iPerf, or copying a file?

The 6Ghz band performs well but just not with my wifi6e end devices. I'm getting a new laptop soon that will have a wifi7 NIC so my testing would be way better with the 6Ghz band. I am extremely skeptical of your 2.4Ghz results. Every other device has trouble getting over 200 Mbps down, and you're getting 700 on upload . It is typically hard to get good upload speeds on mobile clients (because of antenna array), and should be your first sign of an error. I would validate that portion of the testing to make sure that 5 and 6 Ghz were indeed disabled.

@UltimateTechHub I believe that you are genuine, but I also believe there is an error here. 2.4 Ghz is simply not capable of those kinds of speeds. Certainly not from a mobile device (possibly from one high-end MIMO to another). It should be a red flag to you thar your 2.4 Ghz upload was higher than the 5 Ghz.
