590 - 1/100 Gundam Gusion (OOB Review)

Here's the Non-Grade 1/100 scale Gundam Gusion! This massive beast definitely looks the part! The weight and articulation limitations keep it from being too dynamic, but it's nevertheless and impressive looking kit!

What I really like about the IBO series so far, is the lack of true beam technology. Makes it feel slightly more believable, and drives home the idea that close up combat often decides mobile suit battles, and as much most of the mobile suits are designed for certain close up combat types. The Barbatos and Grimgerde are limber so they attack fast. Gusion has a strong defense, coupled with a crushing weapon. Kimaris has a plethora of boosters for hit and run fights, the Trooper has a basis on jousting, rushing in and striking then rushing in again. The Graze's are fairly all-rounders, but using those axes conserves ammunition. The Rebake is basically an arsenal though.

I'm pretty sure that's just a sensor. Can you link a clip or photo or tell me which episode shows that?

"The Graze’s head not only contain sensor(s) that excel at measuring Ahab Waves, infrared and so forth, it also has a spherical module that is exposed during optical long-distance viewing and precise measurement." That's straight from the Gundam wiki and they source it from the Graze model kit manual. Edit: Not to claim that they don't, and to be clear, I mean "beam" technology as in beam sabers, beam cannons, beam rifles, everything seems to use standard projectiles in IBO.

+Jesse Haralson LOL you're RIGHT! I just rewatched the first episode. Towards the end right before Mika pops out of the ground that "Eye Thingy" lights up... Guess my imagination ran wild and I thought it was going to shoot some kinda fusion beam light cannon or something....

Haha it's cool. Pretty much every series but this one uses beam technology though, which was the first thing I really noticed about the MSs of IBO.

I am thinking of heavily modifying this one. First option is to give him two hammers from the Hi-Mock weapon set. Otherwise maybe getting 1/100 or 1/144 Z'gok claws on him. Finally for appearance am thinking of some kind of beetle reference, maybe even a hercules or rhinoceros beetle appearance.

Thank you for this review. It made me realize I absoultely need this kit. Is the kit more like the early "No-grade" IBO 1/00 kits or the later "Full Mechanics" ones? The Rebake in your other video looks like the frame is basically the same as the Full Mechanics models (I have Barbatos Lupus Rex and Bael) and not like say the Grimgerde (which I also have), with a little less detail more like an upscaled HG and a different design to the frame. I still like it though. But I really particularly enjoyed building the FM kits, making that little Terminator and putting clothes on it. ;) So I'm looking for more of the same. This kit and the Rebake version of course looks like it's more like that?

i tried to see how much of the inner frame is similar to other kits and am still having trouble with a few little things. is the main frame for rebake mode the same to the first barbatos kit? and if so, is there any specialty frame parts aside from the heads that would make it impossible to just grab another similar frame kit, so you could display both Gusion suits? thanks in advance

So what exactly is needed to make both kits. I have about 8 different kits from the ibo 1/100 line, maybe all the extra parts from all those kits will be enough to make both kits? I was thinking about getting two of these kits so I can have both, but all those extra parts ( 2 full kits with out frames) seems a bit much. Maybe I should get a cheaper kit to get the frame (graze standard). If any one had some input for me that would be great.

So there is one frame but you have both the armor pieces for the different gusions

interesting review, I would like a frog ms, and who knows when the mg will come out for it. the rebake is a nice addition as well~ So If i want both would it be cheaper to buy this kit, and mold the frame in resin or is buying 2 kits cheaper?

+Harohikun Eh, cheapest way would be to buy this kit and a 1/100 Barbatos, then modify the Barbatos frame to work. Lot's of waste I guess but that would be the cheapest and easiest I think.

Bandai does modify kits just for the box or manual photos, I just bought an EVA LM and it doesn´t hold the swords, but on the box photos it does, if you look closer you can see that que fingers were bent, it also holds the rifle in a funny way but it looks right on the box and manual, and it doesn´t hold the knife either.

I have the kit but I haven't built it yet (lack the time unfortunately) Is it possible to equip the Gusion armor parts on the Barbatos frame? I was initially sure it could work but after seeing the frames are different I'm having my doubts

I think Bandai chose to combine the Gusion and Gusion Rebake together because the gundam frame for the gusion would be waisted. The Gusion uses roughly like 60% only of the Gundam frame so it might've not looked well financially on Bandai's part. Like what would you do with the spare leg parts from the zgundam frame if the Gusion was a standalone kit? This kind of messes with us consumers but that's the way I see it.

+bng422 The NG Gusion actually does use the entire Gundam frame, you just add spacers around it to manage the extra size. Check the instructions on Dalong and you'll see that every part of the core frame actually does stay a part of the kit. I can understand why the bundled the two, but they really should've just packaged two frames. Three runners, a few more foil stickers, and a few more polycaps. I count 17 runners in the package, doubling the frame runners would've brought it to 20.

Nope! 1/100 Barbatos 6th Form, then 1/100 Kimaris. Then maybe Graze Ein after that.

+Falleen build both frames and put them side by side. you'll notice that the Gusion frame has some slots all throughout it that aren't on the Barbatos frame. you have to cut those slots into the Barbatos frame yourself to get the Gusion armor on it.
