While Ramon is the only character (for now) that I like more in the original than in the remake, his boss battle has been improved a lot, to the point of making it totally different; much more aggresive and dynamic. The sad part is I was collecting ammo and enhacing the rifle for the fight, expecting it to be similar to the original, and suddenly I was in a fight in which the sniper rifle was nearly useless and you needed the SMG and the shotgun 😅

Resident Evil sure do have a fondness for mutations where the upper human torso is part of some strange beast-like mount with these recent games, huh? I rather like Ramon's new mutation over the original. The idea of merging with the Queen Plaga always felt like something that should of been saved for a final boss scenario to me, even years back. So his Plaga mutating further after he's fatally shot fits a lot better.

I was playing that in the middle of the knight and after dying 5 time I went to sleep and then went back to start again and bought a rocket launcher and defeated him in seconds I was annoyed at how long I took

You can but it's really not worth the Pesetas on Hardcore. A single rocket costs 160k so... On standard at 80K a pop, I think it's a decent bargain.

Pro tip for those struggling or who struggled like me: Use the cube key to unlock the golden egg in the throne room. For real. Don't sell it when you get it or use it to deface Salazar's portrait per the Merchant's request. Equip it once Salazar's boss fight begins and throw the egg like a flashbang at Salazar if he's exposed from his bestial jaws. It immediately takes off 70% of his health in Standard. Can't say anything about Hardcore or Professional.

I like how they changed the intro cinematic. Not only did they show Ashley being carried off, by Krauzer nonetheless, we got to see Leon putting 3 bullets into Zalazar right before he becomes the boss. Something I know most of us wanted to do to that little shit in the original after hearing his annoying voice and seeing his stupid, grinning face in every castle chapter after hacking your radio… Not to mention the spiked ceiling trap, the trapdoor in the throne room, and the mass ambush scenes (One of which can force you into wasting a LOT of ammo and health items if the red priest gets to the minigun). I do miss seeing Leon knife his hand though. Salazar’s reaction to it in the OG was priceless. :)

@@nehemiahpouncey3607 They did away with most of the QTEs, and that was one of the biggest. They did include the mini Castellians to find and shoot, but I can see why they would cut that content. Between pacing concerns and the impracticality of repeating a sequence that everyone would see coming from a mile away, they devoted their time towards the core game aspects and the side quests. They even did away with "IT"'s boss fight, which, considering how tough Krauser was this time around, I did not miss at all.

Is strange that people are like "I miss OG Salazar"... Dude, there's nothing to miss, he hasn't gone anywhere, we have like 10 different remasters of Resident Evil 4 that are exactly the same thing and you can play anytime. This is the first time in almost 20 years that we got a variation of this classic and it's actually an improvement over the original boss fight. Literally , there's nothing to miss here

I just beat this boss on hardcore mode and it was frustrating. I hid and ran around the pillar on the left side of the room to block & hide from the blast and then I pop out & shoot when he’s open. As he gets faster and more desperate, he’ll become harder to locate. I used the bow-gun’s mine detonators and a direct hit on his weak spot will drop him down leaving it vulnerable for the knife prompt and other attacks. When the boss battle starts, immediately shoot him with a mine detonator as he’s walking towards you and you’ll get a head start in the fight. After using the elevator that leads to the boat, I got attacked by freaking knights.

Man I had a fully upgraded red9, cqbr rifle and skull crusher shotgun and only had ammo for the skull crusher and I beat him not that long ago. If you have no supplies keep him in 1st phase and let him spam the explosive bubbles and either pop them or wait till they pop themselves, they drop ammo, gunpowder, herbs etc. And when you think it's time start attacking salazar.

@@Ellajjane I had more luck staying put and settling on a spot, then luring him over and shooting him with my bolt thrower with explosive every time. I took the risk of getting spit on with some acid and took the hit on the health in exchange for an accurate shot. You have to hit Saddler's body precisely when his pod opens up or he doesn't take damage. It can be very frustrating. Lure him out, be willing to get hit, and get your perfect shot in with either a magnum or bolt thrower with explosives ... then follow it up every time with a knife melee stab when he is down. Will take about 6 times if done correctly.

The only thing I don't generally like about the remake other than a pet peeve of liking the original Leon and Krasuer voices more, just a peeve not a big deal but the real thing I don't like, is the absence of U-3. That hurts. A lot.

This boss fight was an absolute bitch to beat. Died countless times. Didn't have a lot of ammo or first aid sprays/herbs (1 First Aid spray), but fortunately weapons were pretty upgraded. Wound up relying heavily on the Bolt Thrower with explosives to beat him.

this fight had me tearing my fucking hair out, I was throwing everything & the kitchen sink at him with little to no luck for over an hour. even thought about dropping the setting down a notch because it was that frustrating. HOWEVER,,,,, a complete change of tactic in visiting the merchant, trading a few weapons towards the rocket launcher, went back & took him out with one hit. unbelievable 😁

I think he's playing assisted cuz every time you step on those bubbles or Salazar use his acid I loose like 50% hp and he barely notice the attack and when that thing comes to you and hits you it's game over.

Salazar in the original looked much more intimidating than in the remake. But the remake made it more threatening. In the original, his final form was easy to pass at any difficulty level. I heard that some players bought RPG on him. Seriously? Wasting a missile on this jerk? He’s not worth it. Which is more than I can say for Verdugo. Upd: I also, to be honest, liked the original music better in the battle with Salazar. But it’s all a matter of taste. Upd 2: When I wrote that his original design was more intimidating, I meant his mutated form.

Hey so whatever happened to Red Cloak Verdugo? We kill Black Cloak in the labs, and In the original Red Cloak fuses with Salazar to make the boss, but in this one he just kinda vanishes.
