911 dispatcher here. It may seem like we’re asking “unnecessary” questions but we’re asking things that we need to know so that we can provide information to officers/EMS/fire that they need. And while we’re continuing to ask questions, we already have help on the way. Certain calls we are required to stay on the line until help is there.

I think the more draining is when people don’t understand what we do or why we do it. They get mad at us when we’re only trying to do our jobs and do the best we can. People also don’t realize that we can be sued civilly if a call is not done correctly and someone gets hurt.

911 dispatcher here😬 it may seem like a bunch of unnecessary questions, but these questions determine on who all we need to send and to give more information to the responders in case something changes. As we ask all of the questions, we’ve already started help that way. I try to reassure my callers that help is already on the way, but I have a few more questions I need to ask so I can update my officers. Thank you Zane for calling! Most people would just stand and watch something like that go on rather than try to actually get them help.

Talking about morning announcements In elementary, each morning a class from any grade level got picked to do the pledge of allegiance Only 4 or 5 students went up One held the flag One held the mic And the rest stood there reciting the pledge of allegiance in front of the entire school bringing back some memories, i only got to do it once and i hated it lol

On the 911 dispatching questions, you were right about them asking all the medical based questions to determine if they need an ambulance. All the questions might seem silly but it really does help us medics responding to the scene to plan ahead and decipher what other resources we need for the call to get those enroute and there in a timely manner.

At my public school, every 5th grader was able to do a "society club," and it was basically working the front desk during our secretaries lunch break. We'd do prints and copying, morning announcements with the pledge, whatever little desk work they needed done. It was so fun, but now i realize it was kinda like child labor, but it was a great lesson on work and responsibilities

When y'all were talking about the driver that fell asleep & was on drugs, I GEEKED. I am in recovery after using F3nt & m3th for almost 2 yrs. I turned 21 in march of 2023. When I was in active addiction, waiting til we got home to do our "H"/F3nt was NEVER a option...especially cuz usually we were d0p3sick when we went. You did the right thing to call about him, Zane, you may have really saved his life that day or made him change his life. My OWN mom pressed charges on me & I sat in a jail for 5 months, if she never did that, I would be dead by now forsure. I don't fw snitches at alllll but thats definitely not snitching so you good fr!! Love you guys!!! By the way been a big fan since episode 1!! I've never missed an episode even in active addiction I was using whoever's hotspot I had to for the new episode 😂💕

Dispatchers ask you all this information so they know what kind of help to send - there are different levels of EMT/Paramedics, not every ambulance has the same level of support in them. They wouldn’t sent a basic medical first responder to an event that requires the knowledge of a paramedic, and sending a paramedic to an event that could be solved with a basic medical first responder ties up resources that could be used elsewhere where they are actually needed.
