You need a pto overrunning coupler. It helps tremendously.

I just us chains attached to the top pin to limit my down position. $15 & good to go.

I think it is 4inch or 6 inch Sewer pipe will work really good for a Guard. My Dad has been using it since his gurd broke years ago.

You really need to use the top link and I say this from experience. Without a rigid form of support should you or another user go across a terrace or any point on the area you are working the front of the bush hog is subject to catching on the eneven grade and should that occur the bush hof is subject to flip forward onto the operator of the tractor. This could happen so sudden the operator will not even know it is happening until he or she hears the clatter of the PTO shaft and generally by then it is too late to react. If it does occur and gravity is still your friend you must lift the control lever to the top ASAP. You stand the risk of bending your PTO drive shaft for the bush hog but that is better than having the attachment crashing down onto you. I hope you find this to be helpful.

Do you know how to bypass the draft control? I think I am having problems with it.... any information would be greatly apprecaited

He literally bypassed the draft by removing the 3rd point in the 3 point

I got it a couple years ago. I just recently learned that Zane Sherman the inventor of the Zane Thang passed away in 2018. The top link is the safety device that stops the tractor from rising up and flipping backward onto the bush hog if the bush hog hit a stump or rock and the forward motion of the tractor stopped. It was the safety and convenience of the 3 point hitch which made it a success. Please never operate a tractor missing the top link

You can climb up the back and in or depending on the position of the loader up the left side. The loader complicates it for sure.
