Kian being completely open about his anxiety and bringing the fact that it can be that severe to light really helps me. I struggle with extreme anxiety and panic disorder and it started in 10th grade for me. I barely graduated high school and between my junior and senior year, I missed over 120 days.

I’ve always related to Kians personality so much. The goofy outbursts, etc. For me half of it is trying to make others around me happy & laugh, the other half is just really how I deal with extreme anxiety. I kind of feel like maybe he’s the same in some ways, and it makes me feel less alone. It’s so common and there really needs to be more options for the young teens that struggle. I’m a little older, I graduated high school in 2009 and the conversation around mental health was not what it is today (still a lot of progress needs to be made) But I got extremely lucky with my guidance counselor who essentially gave me a ~get out of class card~ and all I had to do was hold it up and I went to the nurse and she would make me hot tea and I could lay down as long as I wanted. Even just having that option made my life much easier. I just barely graduated but I made it.

i’m shocked because the experience kian had in high school is exactly the same as what I went through. I developed anxiety towards the end of 8th grade and going into high school was tough because I didn’t have a diagnosis yet. I literally could not stand being in classrooms because I felt so trapped and like everyone was watching me have a panic attack. I starting missing school especially once I could drive and leave campus. I missed so much school that I had to go to truancy court with my mom to explain to the judge why I was missing so much school. I finally got a diagnosis and started treatment but man that time in my life was very isolating because I felt like nobody around me understood what I was going through. Everyone seemed so normal. So it’s very refreshing to hear someone else out in the world who had a very similar experience to me. It makes me feel like my high school years weren’t as abnormal as I thought. btw, i later learned that the fear I had of being in a classroom and being watched is called agoraphobia and man it’s a bitch.

I love this episode… It is my favorite episode to date. Kian and Jc should be on again one day. I’d definitely love to see Zane and Heath on Reality House season 4. They’d add in a whole new factor.. I feel like they’d add in a fun hyped factor to the show.

i’ve never heard of someone else that had the same amount of anxiety walking into a school that i did. my teachers thought i was “too young” to be that anxious. i feel so seen.
