Thanks for the information Zanele. May I know if someone with BEng Mechatronics can pursue GCC or PrEng?

Is it possible to have a GCC in both electrical and mechanical... or more importantly is it possible to be a qualified industrial electrician and millwright. Oh and one more, when you say post qualification experience does that include your apprentice years or is it after your trade test.

When you register.. they will ask you if its electrical or mechanical.. even your certificate specifies, so you must choose one. Electricians and Millwrights both need to complete trade tests. Post qualification is that you have your trade already and have completed your apprenticeship... and are working in that trade. My advice is dont spend your time trying to get all the qualifications (mech and elec)- find out which one excites you..what is your passion...and be the best at it..

Thanks for the info...Just curious, would a mechatronics engineer/technician be eligible? Seeing as they're 50% electrical 50% mechanical?
@zanelenkomo3 жыл бұрын
I have not heard of one personally, but what's important is to comply with all the subjects listed in the syllabus. Even if you have both, when registering you must register as mechanical or electrical (the certificate will also stipulate mech or elec) Here is a PDF for reference: cdn.ymaws.com/www.saimeche.org.za/resource/collection/0741B37A-1BED-4106-86BC-69E0B851342B/Information_brochure_GCC_January_2010.pdf

Do you need GCC for instrumentation engineer or instrumentation and process control engineer? I do have N6+instrumentation trade test + 14years experience post trade test on the field
@zanelenkomo3 жыл бұрын
It's for electrical - heavy current... this is because of the requirements to look after facilities that either generate >1200kW or distribute >3000 KVA

Trade tested fitter and Turner 4 years post trade test. National Ndiploma 2018 (N6 ,12 subjects) Does this still include 19 subjects 50% before gcc application?
