The Zanetti press (aka maltese press) works primarily the biceps and delts, but in a way that makes them produce force while maintaining elbow extension. This is how we build straight arm strength, for the demanding end range calisthenics movements like the planche and front lever

Good video. The Zanetti Press is a really good exercise for planche, maltese, and back lever. Personally, to isolate the tendons and joints, I like to hold the top part isometrically, or do eccentrics. Still, I’m definitely considering doing the full movement through its ROM.

So true. And yeah great idea. you could also do pause reps with a slow eccentric to get all the benefits wrapped into one 💪🏿

Im experimenting with training Zanetti exclusively to see if it has significant carry over to planche, at the moment I can do 12kg in each hand (33% BW) for 5 reps, my goal is to reach 50-60% via periodization + bulking and cutting cycles, I'll make a video in a years time to update how my zanetti improved and how my planche changed with little direct training

Let me know how it goes! 👊🏿 Can you Planche already??

@@CaliToTheCrowd No, but for the purposes of testing the effectiveness of zanetti, its good that I cant planche yet because there would be confounding variables to zanettis effectiveness. ie how can I say how effective it is if I could already planche beforehand, and thats exactly the point of the experiment

I’m starting it. Been in hypertrophy period recently- just weighted basics on rings with pullovers and OHP thrown in, but it’s time to start skills training

Hi mate, great vid 👍 pondering question..I know you've covered splits in your previous vids. Just wondered your opinion on a vertical/ horizontal split( push up, row then next day pull up,pike push up). Is this viable or will I be spinning my wheels 🤣 thanks bud 👍

Hi Ash! I think it is possible, the only reason I'd hesitate is that in vertical pulling and horizontal pulling, you use many of the same muscles. Same for Pushing. So all things kept equal, you could probably incorporate more volume with a push / pull split or upper/lower split as opposed to a vertical horizontal split. Hope this helps! 👊🏿

Ok mate thank you for your knowledge 👍sorry for my late reply, think I'm gonna try some upper/lower soon as I'm better ( me and my wife are bedded down with Corona virus ATM 🤢) thought we'd all seen the last of it lol. Feels kind of like a super hayfever mixed with having your batteries drained 🤣 hope all is well there bud 🙂
