I think the instant air spd shortcut should work on both sides regardless of your input side as long as you hit each direction once.

Personally I'm trying to get more characters to platinum, and Zangief is tougher than the other characters I've played so far. I'm at Gold 4 right now I believe. Looks like I really need to learn some more combos with him.

From my experience if you're patient enough you can get plat pretty easily without knowing a single combo by just being patient and studying the opponent's bad habits. Also when in close quarters make sure to use the running grab more ;D

​@@FLYZYyeah, my combos aren't great at all but being able to recognize when I can punish with one of my command grabs or using the right normal throw at the right time, or have conditioned my opponent not to jump, or recognizing the right time / space to air spd is crucial. Also you gotta get good at the grappler jump. Lol he's just really different from a normal character .

Zangief - Dhalsim is very bad for Zangief. It's just because it's Nephew in Diamond rank.

I may pick up Zangief soon but only after I get better with other characters I feel he's relatively advanced not weak just advanced. Zangief is one of those characters that really shines with skill but the skill in Zangief can be hard to perceive to the observer.

He's weak AND advanced. He's not unusable, but he definitely has flaws that aren't really comparable to most of the cast. SF6 is pretty well balanced overall, but Zangief is definitely near the very bottom. There's just not a massive gap.

What's your 720 pattern on leverless? That's the one thing that keeps me from switching to purely a leverless controller for Gief.
