Zara Aleena inquest: Failures ‘across multiple agencies’ contributed to death

Two years ago today, 35-year-old Zara Aleena was murdered as she walked home from a night out in east London. (Subscribe: bit.ly/C4_News_Subscribe)
Now an inquest jury has found that failures "across multiple agencies" contributed to the law graduate's death.
The man who attacked her had only been released from prison nine days earlier. Ria Chatterjee has more.

He'd been convicted 28 times for 69 offences and had been to prison 9 times by the age of 29. The thing that would have saved Zara and many, many, many other victims is locking repeat offenders like him up for life as they clearly serve no benefit to the country. @@MrDonster No, he’s been arrested multiple times before, the court should have sentenced him to a long custodial sentence without parole, then he would have already been in prison & could not have committed this crime. That is a failure of the sentencing guidelines given to the courts by the government or its’ intermediaries, it is not the responsibility of the police so in this case it isn’t their failure. It doesn’t mean that they haven’t failed in other instances, but here if the courts had been more robust in their sentencing previously then this tragic crime would never have happened.

Lack of jails and more and more people to fill them, many from foreign climes now, we let them all in without checking. Just great isn’t it. I know this case isn’t about an immigrant but all these extra people just out a burden on tax payers, the money we spend on illegal immigrants (illegal that is, not genuine refugees as I don’t believe a lot of these boat people are genuinely fleeing war or persecution), costs us over 4 billion a year, think what that money could do for good in this country.
