Matahachi was honor bound for the revenge for his brother's death under Bushido code... but mercy came along the line from a woman's sensible touch... classic romance.

@@iseeyoo9729 Are you an expert on Japanese Bushido? Ichi killed the husband of the woman in an ambush. Ichi killed no civilians but gangsters from the Yakuza. The grudge between them has nothing to do with Bushido. Matahachi fell in love with his sister-in-law. The woman sold all her belongings to chase Ichi for revenge on her husband, but she hired gangsters to do the work. In the BUshido code, you avenge your own and may have some helpers. Yakuza don't follow this way. This plot was a mess without concrete ideas. Ichi killed the woman's husband and saved her and Matahachi, which means the woman and Matahachi owe Ichi one more life. There is no reason to take revenge on Ichi anymore. The ending is completely unconvincing. It makes no sense
