The tool you need to technically select is the IMM Primitives. Then before you click CTRL and SHIFT you have to re-select the IMM Primitives brush. If your head mesh remains masked (where you can't edit it) you can press CTRL and drag an empty space to the side and release to de-select the entire head. Otherwise you can't work on it.

Dude, thank you so much. I've been through about 10 different vids now and they all just skip of the part where they insert the circle and the rest is deselected without explaining what they did to reselect it

Everytime I try to insert sphere's into my mesh, it tells me to delete or freeze subdivisions, then when i freeze subdivisions, it looses all of the details i sculpted before.

Good thing this tool gets results because using it is an absolute pain,. may be the least intuitive piece of software I've ever worked with. Hats of to your agents who do as good a job of breaking it down as can be expected.

how can i hide a mesh? you said CTRL +SHIFT but it didnt do anything. instead it triggered the coloring hotkey which is the shift button
