I don't have many RCs right now, about five currently and have owned a few more back in the early 2ks. I have done tons of speed runs, of course, nothing crazy like seen on KZbin, maybe around 80mph max. I have found 40mph to be the sweet spot on most vehicles. Excellent run time, enough speed to be fun, not too fast where it can get out of control or break too many parts when an accident occurs, and just enough acceleration.

The thickness of a piece of paper is the perfect pinion mesh gap. So I take a small strip of paper and slid it in when meshing the pinion.

hey dude, Yes, you're 100% right. That is the best way to do that. In this case It's pretty unnecessary because these MOD 1 gears have pretty large teeth. I generally use the paper method for the smaller mod gears, as usually found on 1/10 scales. But you're right, nonetheless. Thanks way watching my dude.

You can only swap wires with a sensorless brushless motor. When you do it with a sensored motor you burn the motor. You want to make sure wire A on the motor connects to wire A on the esc
@hybrid32494
@hybrid32494 4 жыл бұрын
Sup bro. Yes, that is a given. Any sensored motor would be completely diff and would have a sensor wire as well. Its very rare to see sensored systems these days because they are pricier. Years ago the sensirless systems were not as smooth as they are today, the need for sensored systems has since decreased due to this. Although there are benefits for using a sensored system in a crawler.

All I’ve used up to this point is sensorless, but I have a Sensored Mamba X laying around. If I put it in one of my trucks in the future, can it work with a sensorless motor by just not plugging in the sensor?

Yes kv is 1000rpm per volt so doubling the kv doubles the rpm but it’s not that simple. Since you doubled the load, going from x wheel speed unloaded to 2x wheel speed unloaded, you dramatically increased the current draw from the motor. On a circuit that can support unlimited current without affecting voltage output the circuit will see voltage drops as current increases depending on the resistance. You can actually measure current if you know the resistance of the circuit along with the voltage on both ends. Compound this with the battery sagging voltage with current draw and you’ll lose a couple of volts. 2v sag is 8600rpm. Which is enough to drop 10mph off your specific gearing. . Bigger batteries help reduce sag. Running a 4100kv motor in a crawler/rock racer I was seeing 2.5v if sag with single 3s 5ah packs. This motor pulls 150amps and peaks 1700 watts geared for 30mph. Running parallel 3s for 10ah reduces my sag to 1.4v

And sometimes I actually buy spare parts for these Chinese 1/8 buggies to put them on other brands like Hobao. You need to consider the battery more. A 2150kv motor should really be driven off 6s for high speeds. 5ah (5000mah) is the recommenced capacity as to not have too much voltage sag. Swapping in a 4300kv motor is pretty much a 3s motor. 3s is half the voltage of 6s so at the same amp hour rating it has have the energy density. You really need a 3s 10,000 man battery to support 200 amps. For example, I use 2 3s 5ah batteries in series for 6s 5ah. Wire them in parallel instead and it’s 3s 10ah. Your 35c at 10ah is 350 amps, which is 3900 watts at nominal voltage.

@hybrid32494
@hybrid32494 4 жыл бұрын
hey dude, I like your testing idea, its actually something I've thought of doing myself. Unfortunately I don't have any larger 1/8 scale motors, because I never wanted to run anything over 3S power. Id say a good lipo and even this cheap buggy will be hitting 55 MPH. These are almost the same speeds as anything with larger motors. It really just comes down to weight distribution for me, I just don't think the heavier 4-6S lipos will work well in something like this. But you're onto something, I need to find a better 1/8 chassis for that.
@druscanam
@druscanam 3 жыл бұрын
Good motor, althogh 3660 is too a bit small for a 1/8 scale especially in 4300kv where you are going to have even less torque as well as possibly over heat the motor too. Stock 3670 2050kv motor is actually rated to 6S. Would of got a better result by just swapping to a 6S ESC or at least 4S with larger pinion gear.

Now when I ran my 5200 mah 3S 11.1 volt 50C YOUMME POWER lipos I got 74.5 mph just 4-5 days ago. On the 80.7 mph run I was using 4000 mah 3S each 11.1 volt 60C instead of 50C lipos. I’m sure the extra 10C’s helped me hit 80+ lol. With the 50 C Youmme’ so could’ve probably gotten a good 77-78 mph maybe 79 no problem though. I had 75C batteries in it before that helped me get to 77.6 mph which was my previous (PB)..... C rating does matter man..... but at the time I was running them 4000 mah 75C 3S Hyperion lipos I had a mod 1 Traxxas 36 tooth plastic spur and before I could probably get go 78-80 or more it shredded up lol. I think 75C 3S lipos would get it to 82-83 mph maxed out.

@hybrid32494
@hybrid32494 4 жыл бұрын
hey buddy! The HSP 94107 is a 1/10 scale buggy, not at all like this pirates 2 1/8 model from ZD racing. Your best bet is to go with a 1/8 platform because you have tons of chassis space and wheel options to use, this is a very common style of RC. BTW, I've have this one upto 55 MPH with even taller gearing, and it's fine. I highly recommend this model my dude. ITs significantly better than any 1/10 buggy.

sup bro!! I thought the same thing too, because based on the proportion of speed gained from 28 to 41 MPH, you would not expect the motors to be exactly double the KV of one another. It's highly possible, we can't know for sure, but it's also possible I am limited by the Max Current flow of the stock lipo, it's possible I could have hit 45 with a better one. Soon I will put a huge pinion on and we will see if 50 is possible.

Why a larger pinion? It seem you're limited by power, not motor speed. I didn't catch the battery capacity, but it'll have to be at least 2.5 AH to supply the 70+ amps the 3800KV will want at full load. Gotta be careful tho, Once you remove the battery limitation it's all on the ECU and I'm assuming it's only a 60A, which would plenty for a 2100 but definitely not a 3800KV.

hey bro! whats good? You got it right to a degree, yes. Generally the low KV motors are torquier also, this is why as you get into the 1/5 brushless systems the motors are like 1000KV and less, because they run high voltage from a lot of cells, so it compensates for the low KV. I personally preffer to run high KV and not more than 3S lipos, because it's much cheaper overall and easy. And similar speeds if using good stuff.

Temps. Higher kv, less torque plus load = higher temps bro. Lower kv. More torque plus the same load = lower temps. Add a bigger pinion to lower KV motor to add speed but this will add to the load and warm up the motor. In my 1/10 Senton I have a 4076- 1/8 scale motor @ 2200kv with 26t pinion run with max10 and 75C, 3s, 5500mAh batteries... low temps all around and very f***ing fast, it's insane, puts my highly modified 6s Kraton to shame. Bigger motor obviously means more torque, it's designed for a bigger load than what a 1/10 has so in theory it should never get hot even with a massive pinion 🙂 I'll test it more vigorously next week 😎👊👊👍✌😜

@hybrid32494
@hybrid32494 4 жыл бұрын
hey man! Thanks for watching! KV is very important, it's the RPM per Volt rating. The higher the KV number, the more RPM you will get overall (with the same lipo). All these brushless motors have adequate torque anyway, KV is more important to me. Let me put it this way, I got nearly an 80% speed increase by just changing the motor alone, Torque drop was not even noticeable.
