Looking forward to the day when Ben is finally over his dad, and becomes a fully independent confident young man. When they first re-introduced his character I was worried because he was going in a direction similar to his dad but these recent developments of him opening up is making me hopeful. Max Bowden is a great actor, the writers should really utilize him better. Also only two days of EE from now on, will be missed but everyone should stay home and stay safe of course.

Phil couldn't be more ungrateful if he tried to be! Ben went out of his way, begging Sharon to withdraw her statement, & then Phil couldn't be less thankful when he found out it was down to Ben! He was so stupid, turning away & mumbling so Ben clearly couldn't hear him, & Ben had even given him a hug! He might as well have not bothered, Phil really looks as if he didn't care. That was more like more dejection to Ben, but he was being brave & trying to be upbeat in spite of that! I don't know why he bothered.

Honestly don't know why people would rather see Ian go down over Phil, when it comes to who blame for Dennis' death. Phil caused the boat to crash cause of pure revenge, no matter the consequences (like getting Callum's location). Ian at least tried to save Dennis after he (stupidly) locked him up for being a brat and almost drowned himself doing so.

@Soulless Husk Phil admitted what he did and was willing to accept the consequences, Ian has done nothing but run and hide from what he deserves, that's why people want to see him go down (which he won't because this would be a stupid way for a legendary character to go). Also, Phil's cause the crash by accident, Ian kidnapping Dennis was intentional, plus Ian was pretty vengeful too.

Nah I don’t want ian to get all the blame. It wouldn’t be fair to put that all on him. He did something foolish but it was a reaction to what happened to Bobby...and it’s not like he knew the boat accident would happen. He just didn’t want denny out on the boat having fun while Bobby is half dead lol. He had all intent and purposes to let denny out once the boat docked to bring him to Sharon and Kathy and whoever else to tell them what he did. He didn’t mean to hurt denny - and if Ben doesn’t see that, like he went on to Sharon about Phil, I will roll my eyes out lol. I’m hoping that eventually Ben will stand behind Ian...cause ya know ian was there when Ben was going through all that abusive stuff as a kid.

@Ray03595 Phil did run off but came back after awhile to face the consequences, unlike Ian. Plus Phil didn't know the full story, again, unlike Ian. Yes, Sharon and Keanu had an affair, then Ian locked up Dennis, then Phil caused the crash, meaning he was only partially responsible and shouldn't take all he blame. Yes he deserves punishment, but he lost his stepson, that's a pretty big punishment, Sharon lost her son too and Keanu can never be with his kids. Everyone to blame for Dennis' death has been punished except Ian, which is what bothers me.

Phil’s mind is currently fulfilling with guilt and pain and sadness for Dennis and Sharon! There’s just no room or space in his heart for caring Ben! Of course he won’t sense anything wrong with Ben’s hearing! But at least he should be more greatful that despite everything, Ben still cares for his dad, not that phil deserves it!! Right now the chemistry between phil and Ben’s father/son bounding just feels so forced! Phil doesn’t involve in Ben’s storyline very often, just like Whitney doesn’t involve in Callum’s storyline too! Ballum really makes their way out in eastenders drama table!!👍💗💝🎉🌸👏

I think he can see Ben is really not like Phil. That Ben has been put into this position because of his dad..and if one day ben gets pushed too far, he could become Phil. But inherently Ben is not an aggressive jackass like Phil lol. He’s just had to take that persona on somewhat to be able to survive his childhood/life as Phil mitchell’s gay abandoned by his mom half deaf son. Now I’m not saying Ben hasn’t done a lot of really really dumb stuff...but I do think Martin is able to look past that and get the position Ben has put himself in to try and kiss up to his dad.
