This series is a great idea Mitch, nothing else like it on KZbin as far as I know. Its so fascinating and really quite important to learn where all this wood comes from that we sometimes take for granted.

Another great video Mitch :) I've not used Zebrano for a good few years now, but I loved working with it. A video on Chinese Sumac would be good. I've been using it recently. Smells awful when you cut it, but it works good :) ॐ

I got some Zebrano from Surrey timbers the other week, it looks fantastic. I haven't started working it yet, but will do over the coming weeks (I'm making a clothes drying pulley thing for the ceiling). Any recommendations on a finish to use? I'm thinking something clear and shiny, but not sure what.

Rico S Hi Rico. A few coats of clear acrylic lacquer over acrylic sanding sealer would be my choice to show the beauty, yet also protect from the damp clothes. Send me a photo when you're done

Thanks for sharing Mitch, I was waiting for this. I have some Zebrano for four years, but I haven't any Project idea. Is it ok with pure oils and danish oil?

Murat Koten Cheers. I haven't any long term test of oiling it, but it takes tung oil okay, but needing very much, at least the small sample I tried. Sanding the oil on might fill the grain quite well, so would be worth trying.

Unfortunately, I do not understand spoken English. Still, I have questions, this tree with a beautiful texture is undeniable, but how does it manifest itself in processing compared to beech or oak?

Vladmir Arhont Personally I would say machines and saws easier, but getting a good finish is harder due to wavy and interlocked grain, alternating hard and soft grain.
