The end result was a very swish pen with a unique story and it made a great gift for my friends brother! I won't be in a hurry to make another of these but welcome you guys to try!

Love the end product but I think you should know that the gorilla glue expands but ends up full of bubbles, hence the colour which give the material a massive weak point. Just a thought. Pen turned it great!

Oliver Andrews haha cheers buddy. The glue didn't effect the colour of the wood at all and made a strong bond. The blank broke because there are many weak points between the original laminations of the skateboards and me being a bit too heavy handed with the chisels.

Hey.. Im turning rings... using all said methods... the problem Im having is the final few steps of superglue and sanding to get that shiny look. Im applying a few coats.. then sanding with micromesh thru 12000.. but after that.. one they dont look as well as yours did.. and two.. I dont have that last white substance you buffed it with. Please advise.. and or can you make an in-depth video on that final few steps of shine and polish.. possibly with a super close up cam?

Hi Dan! I'm excited to do my first pen this week. I have all my skateboard decks cleaned off...but question... did you sand the decks at all before gluing? Thanks for the video!

Julie Austin hey! Good luck with your pen! I didn't sand my decks as they were pretty scratched up and the Gorilla Glue had a strong bond. I would probably recommend sanding the pieces first if your using wood glue though :)

Hey! Thanks man, you can either get a specific burnishing cream (Chestnut products do a great one) or use an automotive scratch restorer like T-Cut (I used to get mine from Halfords!).

next time if using skateboards use a heatgun it work 110% better then a hair dryer

Good tip man, I don't do enough of this sort of thing to merit buying a heat gun but if I were doing it daily I would probably invest in one.
