How I made a couple recycled skateboard stash boxes. Keeping the original board artwork visible throughout the pieces was really important to me. It certainly presented some challenges but it was fun to figure out. I'm really excited with how these came out & will be making more of them for sure! Hope you enjoy the video! Thanks for watching!

Hahaha, Thanks bro! I am glad to hear people are picking up little tricks from my vids! The heat gun does a ton of the work, just don't hold it over too long or it melts the grips!

Mike that truly is a wonderful way to recycle skateboards. I really liked how you paid attention to sanding and finishing but leaving it almost in its natural state. Continue the fantastic videos and enjoy that lovely machine! Many blessings!

Thanks! I try to keep some of the magic inherently associated in the story's these boards have and wear on their exteriors...they have been through a lot and I try to keep as much of that story in each piece...whether it's skateboards or any other piece of wood...they all have history and character...why get rid of it is what I say! I don't know why I never thought to do it, but the forstner bit for the chuck is a head slapper! Also great use of the heat gun, you just stepped up my game on the lathe haha. Love what you did with the old skateboards, thanks for sharing!

Thank you for reusing...appreciate it dude. But be careful because older skateboards have asbestos between the board and the grip tape. While they made a come back as of late, they went out of use a few years back because of the asbestos thing. At least in some parts. Curious about something...when people are working with resin, it's an exothermic reaction...so for those that use waste blocks glued on...if a heat gun removes the item from the waste block...wouldn't an exothermic reaction of the resin make the hold not stay on the waste block?

Thanks, Most of the time I use pastewax and buffing compounds followed by Beeswax. I like the look and feel of a satin finish on wood. I'd like to play around with some other oil finishes soon. Thanks for watching!

Michael Zurcher I haven't been to Fairmans since they moved from Prospect Park when I was a kid. The owner used to live across from the football field and they'd skate is half pipe when we practiced. The good ole days!

I get the decks from a shop that used to just trash them, instead of that I make things from them that people can use...what is dumb about that?
