Zechariah

The destruction of the Second Temple in Jerusalem is a pivotal event in Jewish history. Zechariah predicted this 2nd temple destruction several hundred years before it was destroyed.
The Second Temple was destroyed by the Roman Empire in AD70 .
The destruction occurred during the First Jewish-Roman War (66-73 CE), which was a rebellion of the Jews of Judea Province against the Roman Empire.
The war began as a response to Roman rule, taxation, and the desecration of the Temple.
The Roman army, led by Titus, besieged Jerusalem. After a prolonged and brutal siege, the city fell.
The Temple was not only a religious center but also a symbol of Jewish national identity. Its destruction was catastrophic for the Jewish people, leading to the dispersion of Jews from their homeland.
The destruction of the Temple marked the end of the Second Temple period and the end of the mosaic covenant. No temple, no Levitical priesthood, no old covenant sacrificial system.
This old covenant was replaced by a new and better covenant. Hebrews 8:13, 9:8, 9:17-22.
